Everyone,
We are happy to announce we have identified the root cause of the T1 'blue screen' issue. A small percentage of our customers reported their T1 would go to a 'blue screen' during performance and lose audio. They would need to reset (power-off then on) their T1, and upon reset their current scene would be lost and the T1 would revert to factory settings. We have identified the issue resides in the 'Tuner' algorithm, and only happens under a very rare set of circumstances - explaining why the issue was so incredibly difficult to track down. We are working on releasing a new set of T1 firmware code very soon, but in the meantime, to prevent this issue: Do not play with the rotary knob on 'Tuner' It is fine to use the tuner normally, but once you are done tuning navigate away from it. As I said, a new set of firmware is on it's way - we just wanted to announce this workaround now that we are confident that the root cause has been identified. Tracking down this issue was made possible by this forum - thank you to everyone who contributed their time and outage information. Thank you again, MikeZ |

Great News Mike!
Thanks for the update. Congratulations to the team on tracking this down. I'll mirror this into the wiki later this afternoon. |

Awesome! I'll bet you all are so elated to discover this. Good work. Now I see why drummers never report that problem.

Pete,
Good grief - we should have notice that negative-correlation long ago. |

Whoa! I always have it set on Tuner when I play...yikes zikes, reckon I've been lucky.
Mary P.S. Congratulations on puzzle solved! Looking forward to that firmware! |

Hey Mike....having been the victim of a dozen outtages with 3 different T1's and having racked my brain trying to figure out a common denominator in these outtages, I look forward to hearing just what these "rare set of circumstances" are..... Also, ST & Pete.... I think may have been multiple reasons for these outtages since one of my T1's went out like this about 6 times while being used by my keyboardist who had no cause to use the tuner at all. I'm sure we'll hear more in the near future... |

Hi guys and gals,
Just in from Framingham, and just want to add this note. Ken told Rick and me about this yesterday while having lunch at Bose. Right after lunch Ken dropped us off at the Auditorium so we could rehearse a bit. We hadn't been set up more than ten minutes when Rick's T1 went to "blue screen". The timing couldn't have been more perfect, we couldn't help but laugh because it had never happened to Rick before and we knew the issue was solved. I'm looking forward to the story being told here by those who solved the problem with help from some of our forum regulars. O.. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Oldghm, |

Hey Oldghm...Do you think it was a setup job as a practical joke on Rick? After all, if the problem is cured than they must be able to duplicate the cause in the lab...or onstage

Oh No. No setup.
If this were not so troubling to those who have had failures and to those who have been struggling to fix it, it would be perfect fodder for many a joke. It may in fact become that, after the fix is presented. Rick just happened to stumble upon the perfect storm, all on his own, I assure you. O.. |

O. is right. I've played many shows with the T1 and never had any problems. It was really weird that we had been talking about it at lunch and then it happened to me during rehearsal on MY T1 that had not been touched by anyone else.
I'm just glad there wasn't a thunderstorm in the area when we walked across the Bose campus. It was my day for a T1 strike! The good news is it happened during rehearsal and I moved the knob from the tuner and it was fine for the show. BTW,how cool is it to be in the Bose auditorium for a show with the L1 systems being tweaked for the best possible sound in that room using a one guitar, two pickup, two L1 true stereo setup for the first time in public and having it all work perfectly? Simply amazing!! It was a dream gig. Thank you, Bose. 2nd BTW, You should have heard Larry with his rig in that room. Fantastic!!!!! Bring on the firmware, but until that time, don't play with the knob on tuner. Rick |

Yep. The ONLY time my T1 ever shut down was the ONLY time I left it on the Tuner, not on purpose.
Looking forward to the update, and Mike-Z and ALL at Bose - THANKS for you diligence in really finding the problem, and of course for the solution. Good work! Mike |

Mike,
Here it is August 2009 and my new T1 is suffering from all the failure problems I've been reading about on line. I talked to Joe at Bose and he suggested making sure the tuner is not on while performing. I tried a test at home with the tuner on while I played and could not reproduce the failure. Have you guys fiqured out a solution yet to this problem? I have to use my Mackie board and other old equipment I thought I was replacing |

Hi RBullet,
Thanks for joining this community. The T1 issues were solved by new firmware. Follow me to the L1 Firmware Download Page. Would you please let me know if you're able to do this okay? Thanks, Ken |

Ken,
I confirmed that Rbullet has successfully performed the firmware update with his T1. He received the 'update successful' message. He has 1.8 on the T1 and at the close of the call, we left it at a monitoring state. If his T1 does this again, GC has made the offer of exchanging it. But, this is peculiar nonetheless. Any thoughts?? Joe-At-Bose |
