I hope the east coast guys are okay with a later lunch. That will be 4:00 their stomach time.

Tom,

You wouldn't believe the debate we had about that. We're basically on West Coast Session Player time. (almost)

We will have snacks, juice and coffee to help folks overcome the time differences.

Unspoken Big Sur Rules

1. No Business suits period... back-packs encouraged.

2. No ties... with exceptions of those designed by Jerry Garcia. Bolas made of Obsidian, Jade, Amber, Abalone Shell, Fox Foot or Eagle beak welcomed.

3. Denim, shorts, camouflage clothing, tye-dye apparel, Hawaiian shirts or work clothes only.

4. Sandals, tennis shoes, hiking boots, moccasins, etc. Please, absolutely no foot wear intended to shine.

5. Dirt will appear somewhere on your being... acceptance is a must. (Simply consider it holy ground if that helps...)

6. Open Mind... who knows what you will encounter? (Thus the next rule..)

7. Extreme Tolerance (Big Sur's an alternative world to say the least...)

8. Ability to Assimilate beautiful surroundings...(Mandatory Prerequisite)

9. Allow your Big Sur Adventure to be something you won't soon forget...

Joseph,

Thanks SO much for the rules list!

My Dirty Bose (carry-on) Backpack will cover two rules.

I only own one (wedding/funeral) suit and can't button the pants anymore.

Will leave my two Holliwil inspired ties at home.

I'm ready to head out right now!

PS
Anyone bringing a mini-mixer? Oh say, a Mackie 1402?
I'm bringing along 3 Sennheiser E604 clip on drum mics...they might not be needed but they are so light weight, I thought "why not?".

Kyle is bringing a Mackie 1202.

I won't be able to update the equipment list until after noon (PST). Sorry.

Yes, that is a Breedlove CM striped ebony/cedar that I've had for about 10 years. It's not a regular model anymore. Here's a link.

It has kind of a "heavy metal" look to the cut.

Very cool! Look forward to hearing it. Big Grin

Travel, Food, Timing

Big Sur Lodge to the Hidden Barn
15-20 minutes. It's not far, but you don't drive fast. Slower if there are a lot of us going there at the same time.

The first session each day is at 10:00 at the Hidden Barn. These will be break-out sessions (smaller groups discussing focussed topics).

Coffee, Lunch, Snacks at the Hidden Barn are all being provided by Bose for both Monday and Tuesday. THANK YOU Bose!
Please send me a private message if you have any dietary concerns or special needs.

We understand that at the Dinner break you may want to go back to the Big Sur Lodge (food, travelling companions, change of scenery).

If you prefer to stay at the Hidden Barn please see: Dinner at the Hidden Barn

Announcing the Big Sur Sunset Social

In order to give us time to change gears from daytime to nighttime modes The Big Sur Natives will be starting at 8:30 pm on Monday (changed from 8:00 pm).

To ease the transition and give us a chance to see what Ken saw when he took those great photos, we are having the Big Sur Sunset Social

Here's a link to the most current schedule

Well guy’s I sorry to say I’m going to miss this. The transmission went out on my truck which leaves us with just my wife’s car; and she has to work! It’s probably just as well… I might have tried anyway with my back and then regretted it. I can usually drive only a half to three-quarter of an hour before it starts bothering me. You guy’s will have to come back with all the stories for us that didn’t make it. Lots of pictures ok!

Oh Noel,

That is really unfortunate.

We will miss you, but I understand - that trip is not trivial.

There seems to be a contradiction between above and below. Confused

It is with sadness and regret that I say I will not be able to attend this gathering, no, it's not the rules Smile, but prior commitments that I wouldn't be comfortable leaving to someone else. I hope there is another similar opportunity sometime in the future, for I know this is going to be great fun as well as a learning experience. Enjoy.

Oldghm...
Remember the Big Sur rules are Unspoken (by anyone for that matter)...

Thus #7- Extreme Tolerance applies to any brand of eccentric behavior. And Business Suits, ties and shiny shoes fall into that category within the Big Sur realm... So that particular rule implies the double-edged sword of acceptance ... Smile

Really sorry you aren't going to be with us Oldghm... Frown We were all really looking forward to meeting you.

Ciao, the Joseph

Just a little reminder.

For those who are in for the full meal deal, you could be at the Hidden barn from 10:00 am until the last note fades at the late night jam.

Dress comfortably and you'll probably want to bring a sweater up to the Hidden Barn. If you are planning on checking out the sunset or the stars after dusk, it could be a little on the cool side.
