Just noticed that the Monterey Jazz festival is running april 21-23. That means some traffic for those coming from the north on sat/sun. I was considering it, but think maybe we will hang in SF till monday morning now.

Drumr... that's the "Next Generation" jazz festival for Middle school, High school and Collage bands & underage performers...

It's held in downtown Monterey... housing shouldn't be a problem.

However, in Sept. when the real Jazz Festival hits town... everything will be booked.

That's good news Joseph, the traffic jam will be teen-agers, what a relief. Wink

Drumr... and everyone else driving from S.F to Big Sur... it's important to take into account ... that to drive down Highway 1 from San Francisco all the way to the Hidden Barn adds a great deal of time ... it's a faster drive to take 101 from S.F. and 'then' cross over to Highway 1.. This bypasses a drive through downtown Monterey all together...

Ciao, the Joseph

Hey Bose-O's West planning to do the Big Sur Trip~~the ride is a lot longer then you think it is~~Joseph's right about doing 101 South and then crossing over to Highway 1~~make sure you add 45 minutes to an hour beyond your initially estimated travel time~~if you get behind a really slow car when it breaks down to two lanes where it's too dangerous or curvy to pass~~ it can add 15 to 20 minutes of travel time Frown

(Me is talking here from lot's of experience traveling down the Big Sur coast~~) Smile

And keep in mind that there are only a few roads in America that you will not want to "make time" on. This is one of them. Take your time. Pull over and stare into the Pacific. The air is absolutely incredible and you will feel different and better.

This is great news. Guy and Wiechert will join Ken, Cliff and Kyle as of now.

I'm currentlt on the "maybe" list. No gigs Sun-Wed at the moment, have to figure out if the budget will handle it. Flight, rental car, room, food, pretty spendy. Sounds like big fun, though. And it is one of the world's great spots...

Yes, it is, but when will you get the chance again? I went thru expedia.com and got round trip from illinois w/rental car for a week under $1000, not too bad. Add in food & lodging and you get around the price of another L1 2-B1 setup. This is how I gauge all spending now...how does it relate in terms of another Bose System.

Joseph,

I wouldn't mind playing some drums if time and situation allows, but I wouldn't call what I do "performing", that must be a california term Cool

I call it "counting-to-four-as-best-I-can".

I hadn't heard anything about what might be happening musically. Will there be drums around? Left-handed even? I'll bring along some Hotrods just in case.

Thanks for asking.

On another note...I ran into a studio drummer on Harmony Central who is from Carmel, Ca and likes playing quietly. I told him the Bose system is right up his alley, I aimed him this way, maybe he'll come too.

Drumr/Pete... Sorry, there is not a set of drums in the studio... maybe if your studio drummer friend from Carmel decides to come, he can bring a set if willing... just have him contact me if he has any questions...

Hi there,

I'm sorry to say I'm one of the "Can't make it this time" PAS users. I have been keeping in touch with the development of this great trip and I would really, really love to be there.

I arrived here in Georgia from Scotland 6 years ago and so far have not had time to visist the west coast. Big Sur would have been a great place to start! The problem is, I work as a designer and only get 2 weeks vacation per year and I will be using all my days this year to visit my family and friends back in the old country. Maybe next time.

I love to play African style guitar music and I am also big into mixing Celtic music with reggae beats - I have always enjoyed mixing different types of music together and it would have been great to come and listen to all that B.S.N. percussive stuff with Joseph on guitar.

I still get excited just reading about it and feeling the enthusiasm of all you folks who will be there. I'll be there in spirit anyway and I look forward to hearing all about it afterwards. Have a great time out there and take care. Gordon.

DAK,

Sorry you can't make it.

But, you could still submit something for the To Sur With Love competition.

You mean that this was a legit toss of the gauntlet and not merely an opportunistic pun? Sorry - that last two words were redundant.

Good morrow Sur Ken-at-Bose,
I,like ST and others thought the "To Sur With Love" was indeed a prank.I can now see for Sur that it was meant to be at least half Surious and I Surtainly intend to bear that in mind.

Sur Gordon of the Blue Mountain clan.
