Oh...my...goh-idd, THAT band is long scattered to the wind. Cliff-at-Bose not reticent to play by any means and delighted Alan is bringing items for said purpose. However, be careful what you wish for.
|
Do all the Bose-O's actually gig in and around Framingham...? Do you gig (play) together or do you duke it out (i.e. compete)for gigs...? Or are there simply enough gigs to go around...? (Sorry to be nosey guys, just curious)
|
I've wondered the same thing. It's kind of like Sweetwater sound in Ft Wayne, In. Every "sales engineer" has his own studio, where do they get the business. It just must be a big old world.
|
Demographics Framingham Boston It looks like a couple of big markets of relatively young folks. Probably lots of places to play live music. Plenty to go around! Back to the future: Watch this space for announcements about the agenda - tomorrow.

Joseph, That's kinda like saying "Palo Alto, do you guys share the one bar in town?" From my house I'm less than 2 hours to these large cities: Portsmouth, NH Boston, MA Worcester, MA Providence, RI Hartford, CT Springfiled, MA Albany, NY and a bunch of smaller cities (10,000 people or more) I can share my story with folks. I live in a small town (3,000 or so) about 35 miles West of Framingham and we play about one gig a month. We have an "open slot" at the local pub that we hit about every other month, we do a lot of private parties, festivals and fund raisers around town. We will also drive as far as 1.5 hours every summer to do a private party on Cape Cod. There's plenty of opportunities for us around here and we regularly turn stuff down because it 1) is too far away or 2) doesn't fit our schedule. Live music is alive and well in this part of the world and the demand (at least for our band) continues to grow. For example, tonight we are visiting a pub in the next town over at the invitation of the owner to see if we can "fit" in the room. She saw us at our last bar gig (she came and found us) to see if we could work at her place. We're a 5 piece with 4 systems doing Rock and Blues and not super talented but we sound good (thanks to the L1, not our "skills"). I'm convinced that the key to our success is that we sound good, play with a lot of energy and keep the patrons in the bar until last call. Nobody goes deaf and the dancers can boogie all night. Anyway, that's the inside scoop on this area. As ST said, plenty of music to go around. Steve

The agenda is taking shape. We're going to have some pretty illustrious folks from Bose to give us the inside scoop on: Ten Years of Research: How we all got here. Room Acoustics: What happens when we get there. Marketing the Cylindrical Radiator®: How the story is being told. The Future: Writing history in advance. Melody is King: It's about the music Of Presets and not so typical processing under the hood. Ten Octaves of Love: Hearing and talking about the sound. Other activities that should be happening throughout. Bose-O to Bose-O: Owners talking to Owners about common experiences. Music: As players all, there will be music edit: added Ten OctavesThis message has been edited. Last edited by: ST,

And the more detailed version: 10 Years of Research: a history of the research and development working leading to the Personalized Amplification System(tm) approach. Room Acoustics: a tutorial on salient concepts in room acoustics, and how they relate to the new Bose approach. Marketing the Cylindrical Radiator® speaker: what we've done and why, what's worked and not worked, what ideas we have for the future, and what ideas the community has for us. The Future: What things could the Bose Live Music Technology Group do in the future to advance live music? Presets: What are they? Why do they work? Getting custom presets. Melody is King: What songwriting, arranging, and performing techniques enhance the live music experience, especially in order to take advantage of the new Bose approach? Ten Octaves / Spectral Identification: Identify excess level in one of 10 different octave bands. edit - Ten OctavesThis message has been edited. Last edited by: ST,

Sounds like a Music Major's course for credit ~~or a potential Music engineer's weekend seminar~~ pretty cool stuff~~

Hello Guys from Bose! Do you plan this event in other countrys also? Especially Germany? This point: Room Acoustics: a tutorial on salient concepts in room acoustics, and how they relate to the new Bose approach. This could be very interesting, sometimes we have troubles with our PAS, mostly when the Stage for the Band is higher then the audienceplace and the soil of the stage is swinging...

Hi scriptura, Now *that* is an inspirational thought. I'll make a note of you question and see if we can work on that together in Big Sur.
|
You may want to address this issue in one of the other forums (e.g. Technical issues). You might find it already addressed, such as here or by searching all the forums for tilt or tip.
|
ST and Dan, thanks for reply.

Will we get these: ![]()

Maybe we'll just get people to wear enlarged versions of their avatars. Imagine this: ![]()

Frightening thought. | ||||

Here's some very cool Big Sur Links to check out... http://www.artist-at-large.com/bigsur1.htm Alan.. do you know of this? http://www.boosey.com/pages/cr/news/further_info.asp?newsid=10848&LangID=1

Here is another topic for our agenda! Ten Octaves / Spectral Identification: Identify excess level in one of 10 different octave bands. Some of you may remember a discussion about the vocabulary we use when talking about sound. This session will help us to understand how to hear and talk about what we hear in the different frequency ranges.
|
ST, did you download & try the mp3's that Cliff posted back when we had that discussion? I keep that disc in my car & test myself every so often. Of course since I've been using the Bose I don't use graphic eq anymore & have not had the need to identify frequencies of feedback or problems (except in the studio) in the last couple years. I also carry two applications on my PalmPilot that I use for frequency issues. One is Music Gadgets - a group of tools including a listing of frequencies with their note pitches & MIDI equivalents. The other is HandeeSA - a spectral analyzer with nice graphics.
|
Maybe while we're out there, Alan will tell the group where his avatar came from. Facinating story!
|
Boy... it's been a long time, but isn't that the guy on a pack of Zig-Zag papers?
