Hi Tom,

I put those mp3s into a player and I listen to them from time to time. Like you, I rarely need to identify frequency ranges by ear since getting the Bose System. So you may wonder why I'm excited about Cliff's offer to do this session. Well even though the apparent reason for do this is to identify frequency ranges, it has been invaluable to me as a lesson in listening.

ST, did you download & try the mp3's that Cliff posted back when we had that discussion? I keep that disc in my car & test myself every so often. Of course since I've been using the Bose I don't use graphic eq anymore & have not had the need to identify frequencies of feedback or problems (except in the studio) in the last couple years.

I also carry two applications on my PalmPilot that I use for frequency issues. One is Music Gadgets - a group of tools including a listing of frequencies with their note pitches & MIDI equivalents. The other is HandeeSA - a spectral analyzer with nice graphics.

Hi all,

Tom's post makes me want to share a free oscillator program that I found a while back. It's called LF Generator from from VB Audio. (Scroll to the bottom for the free-to-all standalone version...) A great little reference tool and it sure beats luggin' my old HP around...

Chris Ickler, senior researcher at Bose, a spectacular scientist and inventor with many patents to his name, will be joining us at Big Sur.

He's also a particularly fine lecturer and will lead a session on line array theory. He has a gift for making the technically difficult comprehensible to all.

If there are specific things you'd like to know about this subject post them here and Chris will see them.

Wow~~sounds like the Big Sur Bash is gonna be a totally far out gathering~~ I'm not in California right now and won't be back for a couple of months because of my job situation~~ otherwise I would try to make it and meet everyone once and for all~~no more surprises and mystery stuff as I'm almost ready to finally buy a Bose system and thus feel it appropriate to finally introduce myself~~

I know I've probably bugged some of ya guys a little too much and I just hope I didn't push any bodies' buttons with my often insensitive, type-A personality (one of my life's continuous lessons~~) Frown

(great thanks to Drumr for setting me straight on that~~)

If things keep going the way they have been~~it looks like I'll be leaving Santa Cruz and California all together~~which is totally cool as it's just the way the ball bounces~~and I've already caught two acts with Bose systems since I hit the road~~

Great News... Kim Stone, bass player for the Rippingtons will be at the Bose-O's gathering on Tuesday the 24th. Unfortunately, he can't make it earlier because of previously booked gigs with the Rippington's..

However, fortunately, many of you will get to meet one of most recorded bass players living today...(go to Amazon. Com... type in Rippingtons CD's and you'll hear Kim playing great bass lines... not to mention he was with Spyro Gryro for seven years before joining the Rippingtons..

Will there be a realistic discussion on traveling with the PAS? Seems to be the least discussed topic of importance. anyway, now that I've read all this stuff, I'm at 90%...

I'm planning on being there for sure now & I've also lined up the owner of Pickup-the-World pickups, David Enke, & his family. I'm still working on my conga player/duo partner Johnny Watson. If you were in L.A. in the 80's you may remember his band "Boy Elroy". I couldn't get my main man studio engineer & friend, Don Richmond, to make it. You may have read some of his posts here. He's a great guy & eloquent speaker & very passionate about the Bose system. Unfortunately he's breaking ground on a new house & studio & wants to be there - imagine that.

I like your new avatar lydianmode. The old one was cool too.

So, are you saying your personality is more like a freight train than a distinquished English Gentleman? Smile

Drumr dude~~you're so right~~my personality is more like a freight train with a big headlight these days then a 'disgruntled' gentleman~~

The train is also because I'm living on the road~~With a big beam, because I'm finally seen the light~~that it's time for me to finally grow up~~to stop living life vicariously~~ and Drumr dude, you helped me figure that one out~~thanks Smile

I plan to be at the Big Sur bash. I have owned two PAS systems since the first month when they were introduced. I like them a lot but I continue to have a problem with background (white) noise. Could you make this a topic at the tech discussion?

I just posted something on this subject here. Perhaps you'll find it useful...

Enjoy the Big Sur Bose Bash! I'm sure that you will...

Hi RobReis,

Looking forward to meeting you.

Chuck is right on it today with that link and the piece that he wrote.

We can certainly talk about the white noise issue, but in the meantime maybe we can just solve it now and talk about it when we get there.

How about starting a new discussion in the Technical Questions and Issues section. You could call it "White Noise". Be sure to tell us about your inputs and settings on the trims, and Remote(s). I noticed that you had posted something a year back about midi tracks.

Has anybody given props to the photog that made those great shots at the Big Sur Native performances? There's is a lot of thought as well as technical skill to get to where he goes with the camera. I feel a little frustration in him that he doesn't get the due credit and is often the last to know of posting of his images that he so freely shares with only a rare thanks thrown his way. Please recognize that fact...A close friend!

Hello Patrice,

There is a credit at the beginning of the main photographs discussion thread:
Photos at Hidden Barn Big Sur Studio... dancers, musicians & audience

As you can tell by the responses, the photographs and the skill it took to take them has been most highly appreciated.

Thank you!
