Im currently looking into getting the variax guitar but not sure which model is the best one to get.
As far as i know they all do the same electronically and its the instrument quality that differs between models. I will get one, but which one??? At the moment i have a les paul and a music man john petrucci model. I love the les paul to play live but the music man sounds awsome for recording. I think im looking at something in-between these guitars which makes me believe the 600 is the go. I understand the 700 is based on the les paul and the 600 on the strat. I guess this is not a question on sound as i know the L1/Variax/XTlive combo is pretty much spot on for any type of sound. Im looking to hear some feedback on the feel of the guitars. Any thoughts? |

You need to get your hands on them to compare.
The neck shape is different and that's a big part of playing comfort. I wish my 700Acoustic had a taylor neck... but no choice in the acoustics... The other choice is with or without trem bridge. I like a fixed bridge but most rockers like the extra feature of that whammy bar. |

The higher the $, the higher the build quality.
700 feels great, 600's more like a strat kinda feel, 500 isn't generally around anymore and there's 300. Soundwise the tend to have the some sounds, 500 and 700 have 3 internal chips, 300 and 600 have two of them. The 'wood' quality plays a little fator in the tone brought forward. If you're looking for an Variax acoustic. there's the 700 and soon to be 300 in a nylon and string version. Different type of modeling. When i have more on the modelingdifferences I'll post it |
