Dumb POD XT Stereo hookup question ?

I read most of the topics here, and I particularly liked Steve's input, but I don't think anybody talked about the stereo aspect.

And I don't remember having read which inputs on the PAS to use. Input 1 or 2 with a specific preset or flat ? Or simply Inputs 3 or 4 ?

And when you guys hook up the POD XT, I suppose you hook it up using only 1 output of the POD XT ?

What POD XT setting would you recommend when running the POD XT via a mixer ? Still PS1 or Studio Direct ? I know that this is not what I should do, but just to know guess.

Did somebody test this as well (I don't want to make you work more Steve, but as you seem to have had the good approach and the right ears with your review I'd be only to happy to hear your suggestion.

Thanks,

Taco

And I read that the PAS should be available in europe now, so I'll call my dealer for details tomorrow !

I only use the mono output from the PODxt. Using a mixer and submixing the stereo signal and sending it to one system should work just fine, but I don't do that, it would be more cables for no benefit.

As far as "studio direct" versus "PS1" mode, the real difference there is that in "PS1" mode the PODxt sounds like you're standing right in front of the amp, where as with the "studio direct" mode, it sounds like you've isolated the amp in a room in the studio and placed a mic in front of it.

I hope that helps,
Steve

It partially helps, so POD XT mono fine, but input 3/4 on the PAS or input 1/2 with a preset ?

My question via the mixer was because things are not coming directly out of the pod anymore, maybe a different preset would have been required on the PAS and eventually also studio/direct on the POD instead of PS1

Thanks,

Taco.

Any input works well. In channel 1 or 2 use #00 which is "flat" ... as is 3 and 4.

The optimization work was best implemented by adding a PS1 mode in the PODxt version 2.0 firmware.

The optmization work we did on the Pod XT 2.0 version was specifically made with channels 3 and 4 in mind. This way you have all the presets on channel 1&2 available for mics, etc.

Hope that helps

Hilmar
