I have been searching for quite a while for a reliable and convenient way to protect the back of my Variax 700 guitar, wanting to keep it from getting scarred by my belt buckle. Finally, I found, ordered (from SamAsh.com), and just installed the "Scatch Pad" ( see www.scratchpadusa.com ). It adheres securely to all surfaces on the back of my Vaxiax. And, although I didn't need to do it, one can easily trim it to any contour based on positioning. So far, this "Scratch Pad" does a great job at protecting the finish of my Variax, and I highly recommend it.
