I recently picked up a PodXTLive to play with, wanting to see if it can replace my BassPODxt when equipped with the Bass Expansion pack.

One of the things I was curious about was the availability of the Bose output mode on this device...something that Line6 has not included on its bass products. I wanted to know how it would sound compared to my existing setup.

I've played with it for several hours now, and I've concluded that the Bose output mode is not that great for bass...it's undoubtedly good for guitar, but with bass I find it very thin sounding compared to using Studio Direct mode with cabinet and mic modeling switched on.

I'm going to stick with the PodXTLive for now, because it's a cleaner implementation than the combination of the "bean" and a Floorboard, and it has some things I like better (better compressor, for one thing). It's also good for guitar, so it adds some flexibility for when I want to demo the unit.
