Bose versions, 1 & 2?

I have been using the Bose and Line 6 XT Live for almost a year. It seems to have taken me a while to get things tweaked in, but now I am very satisfied with the combination. It has been a while since I have been on the forum and I see that there is now an upgrade for my POD, version 3.0. The reason for this post though, I also have read some things on here that make me wonder if there is an upgrade available for my Bose, (Version 1 & 2). Is this an upgrade? If it is, how do I know what version I have and how do I upgrade? Thanks for your help.

Hi Keith,

"Version 2" is a reference to the Version 2 presets.

It is highly likely that you have the Version 1 presets.

You can find out all about that in the Presets section of the Unofficial Users Guide

To skip all the discussion - you can go straight to Update Your Software

What kind of music are you playing Keith?

Hey ST, thanks for the quick response. The only thing coming through the Bose is my guitar through the XT Live. I am using input number one and preset 00. In your opinion do you think I would gain anything by upgrading my Bose? (I really never messed around with the presets on the Bose; it has always been my understanding that when using a processor you should not be using a preset.)

I play a little bit of everything. My primary playing is for church. We don’t play that old “stuffy” music, it is pretty contemporary. My influences are people like SRV, Zakk Wylde, Paige and Clapton. I used to play in several rock bands (back in the day) but now I’m doing the family thing…..No regrets!

Hi Keith,

From what you have said, there may be no pressing need to do the upgrade. There is a firmware release included with the Version 2 presets, but I really don't know what it does. I don't recall anyone suggesting that it was required except as a prerequisite to loading the new presets.

On the other hand, if you ever want to run another instrument or vocal mic into the Powerstand, you will find that those new presets give you more options than you have now.

Check out the links in my earlier post. It will give you an idea what you might someday be missing.

Thanks for the info about how you are using the System. It's always nice to have a little insight.
