I d just ordered a Variax 600 and Podxt live. I know it will be alot of work getting it right and I'm totally confused after reading this discussion board. Whether I keep it or not is going to depend on how good of an acoustic sound I can get from it. Can anyone give me some tips on how to get the best acoustic sound possible right out of the box so I can try it on the gig?

Hi stumper,

Your best bet for acoustic guitar with the XT Live will be to create a patch with the amp modelling disabled. Click here for a post that you might find helpful. You might also want to check out a patch that I made for my rig. If you're interested, click here and download the one called PS1 Acoustic...

'Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes...

Hi stumper, the variax range from L6 is great in concept but the instruments just dont cut it.I first had a 700-black wow!weighed a ton and had bad microphonic probs.specialy on accoustic patch.so I sold it on ebay, bought a 300 the same place and found a guy called Vic at K9vap@001@aol.com. has a site called TRANSAX GUITARS.He built the electrics of the 300 into a superb Top-.Range squire for me and it's everything I ever wanted.2Kx better than L6.He makes to order now and is a superb craftsman. When you want something that bit special this is the way to go ,

Angello,
I've had really good luck with my L6 gear and the Variax I own is a great guitar (no microphonics at all).

I wonder if you got a bad one. Hmmmmm. Odd, huh.

I obtained a Variax 500 sunburst and a 600 white. I think I'm going with the 500, it feels better to me and I don't need a tremolo.
I took it to my solo gig tonight and used it straight through the Pas without the Podxt because I haven't even taken it olut of the box yet. The acoustic sounds did not sound good at all. I haven't yet checked what firmware is on the guitar, may need to be updated. I'm hoping there will be a major positive improvement when I get the Pod figured out.

Hi stumper,

See microphonic

Basically, when something that isn't a microphone, starts to act like one.

I went out with a girl that was very Microphonic... she pretty much just stood around repeating things other people said...and when I got to close to her she screamed...

I hate feed back like that.

SmileHey stump, the best accoustic sound is variax/accoustic patch but no amp.with comp and eq.activated.The latest flash-ware is much better OH and make sure the xt-live is up to the new version as this is miles better than the last one. There just is no way to compare to steping on a swich and going from accoustic jumbo,To 12string ricky,to les-paul,then stinging tele.at will ,try dueling banjo's playing both parts, switching between foot-switches and having banjo and martin-acc. hung round your neck at the same time. Thanks L6.
