I am in quest of a good and easy to intall pickup for my acoustic guitar with the Bose L1 model 2.

Any experience with this pickup and the L1?

Thank you for your help.

Chris,

The Fishman Rare Earth sounds great with the L1®. You may also look into the Baggs M1.

Hi Chris:

I use the LRBaggs M1 Active in my cedartop dreadnought. There is a preset on the Tonematch T1 that you can use if you have the T1 Cheers!

Hi!

I am just worried that this kind of pickup sounds too magnetic, too electric and not acoustic enough...

The unit your asking about is a Mic and Mag combo correct? I have a Rare Earth Bleed on my BreedLove Classic 12. Something the previous owner had installed. I love it. I have to push the bass just a tad to get a great sound.

Chris,

The quest for guitar tone is a long one where every pickup has its strong & weak points. Often I find that my playing style adapts to lessen the things I don't like & play to the strengths. The Rare Earth is more magnetic sounding, but some players, especially fingerstyle & tapping players, really like this. It's just a matter of taste. Doug Young's site (dougyoungguitar.com) can help you hear a lot of different pickups so you can see what you like the sound of, but you really just have to try them for yourself to see what fits your style the best.

The Baggs M1 is a wonderful pickup!
Depending on how you adjust the pole pieces, you can make the balance between the "mag" and the "mic" just right for you.

If you want more acoustic sound, just lower them a bit more... you'll also get a LOT more "body" sound then, however. Which may or may not be desired, since it MAY introduce you to a bit more feedback.

Like Tom said, the quest is eternal...and very personal.
But the fact remains, the M1 is great for strumming, gives you a clear sound that is very...hmmm..."stable". It is also amazing for more percussive styles with the pole pieces lowered a bit more.

Hi, in my opinion a LR Baggs M1 active is a really nice mic for acoustic guitar, it's not that electrical i it's sound, i was very surprised the first time i tested one.
Shadow SH 145-G is also sounding really nice, it's amazing how acoustic they sound both of them, i have tried one Seymore Duncan mic to and it was sounding good as well.
All 3 is far from electrical sound and i think it's good enough for most of guitar players.
