Hi!

I have the new Bose L1 system with ToneMatch and an HD28 Martin. I plan to use a system in my guitar to be able to connect it directly to the Bose PA. What do you think of the K&K Pure Mini for me?

Can I plug the Pure Mini directly into the PA without a preamp, even with a 5 or 6-meter cable?

Are there any particular problems with the bass module? What are your experiences?

I plan on using the Vintage Jack in order not to modify the end pin strap hole of the guitar.

Thank you very much for your help.

Cheers

Chris

Chris, I had the K & K pure mini and later upgraded the system to the Western w/ small sound-hole condenser mic. There is plenty of power w/out the preamp but I wanted a warmer tone as I play bluegrass. I only needed the pickup for bar gigs or other very loud environment shows. I have found preset 49 is the warmest tone for my taste. I play a Martin D16RGT. We recently recorded our second CD and used this guitar and mic due to the guitar isolation from the vocals. Very warm tone but only picks up what the guitar is playing.

Good luck, James

Thank you James.

You mean preset 49 on the preamp?

I am a bit worried about a cable length of 6 meters without preamp...

I have a Model 1 with 1 sub and four guitars equipped with K&K minis. One is a Collings D1A dread. I can't imagine a better sound. I do use the K&K preamp. I always sit, so I use a 6' cord into the preammp, connected to a Boss TU-2 tuner, and 1/4" cable out to the Bose. I use channel preset 81 (80hz high pass) to kill very low freq boom/thud on the guitars.

You can run the K&K directly to the Bose, but I suggest you try a K&K preamp. You will hear the difference and will like it.

Hope this helps,
David

What model of preamp is it? Do you put it at your belt?

I am hesitating between the K&K mini (with the preamp I think it is called the Trinity system) and the Fishman rare earth blend.

Yes, 49 on the PS1 or 49 on the T1. I do use the K&K blended preamp. 0 noise. Any 1/4 instrument cable after that point.

the trinity is a dual-pickup system, ususally a SBT and a internal mic. If you just have the K&K mini it is not the trinity.

The trinity would need a differnt premap tham mine, one that blends the two pickups together. I use the Pure XLR preamp and just let it sit on the floor by my vocal mic stand.
