Anyone using one here? I'm thinking about buying one for my new Goodall.

Hi Wayne,
Do a quick search for Baggs M1. A lot of info shows up. Don't know if it wil be helpful. O.. |

Hello:
I've heard good things about them, which is why I bought mine. However, mine buzzes like crazy (electrical noise) no matter what I do. My OM28 guitar has a Baggs Dual Source which is super-quiet. The M1 Passive, by comparison is terrible. I don't know if I have a dud or if I'm expecting too much from it. Stu |

Hi Wayne. I use the M1 Active and it works fine for me with strumming and fingerpicking style. Any particular reason you want the Passive vs active? On the active there is a volume control which I find useful and I have yet to change the battery. I use the Baggs preset on the Tonematch. Stuart maybe the posts need adjusting?Cheers Brian.

Brian, I have a new Goodall and I'm a little leery of doing any permanent work to it as it's just a tone monster and I don't want to upset its balanced sound.

Hi Wayne
Why don't you buy a Takamine Tri-Ax pickup? It's actually a re-badged LR Baggs M1 but it has the added versatility of being switchable between active and passive, so you could experiment with the sound you prefer. Either way, you wouldn't have to do any permament work to your Goodall. (The Tri-Ax also comes in black, which I think looks better than the Baggs version!) If you go down this route, I bet you end up using it in active mode. Cheers, Andy |
