I've just started using the L1 cylinder. Any thoughts on what would be the best preset for using my j200 with a fishman aura? Thanks!

Hi John,

There are several factors that will determine the "best" preset for your guitar, not the least of which is "your" ears.

Many here have very good success with #49. It is labled for the Taylor expression system, but works well with many different guitars and pickups when tweaked a little with the remote EQ.

I would suggest you try it (#49) and tweak the sound to your liking then run through some other presets, for comparison.

If you find that you make EQ adjustments of 6 to 8 db or more with 49, then leave the controls the same while running through the other presets. If the sound you like is with the EQ controls near flat, then leave them flat when listening to the other presets.

I have been using the system for over two years now and I still discover new and useable setup configurations with different presets.

Happy Hunting,

Oldghm

I tried a J200 with a piezo (not the Aura) and found preset (version 2) #45 sounded great. Your experience will likely be different because your pickup is not the same...and because your ears are not the same as mine.

As Oldghm said - try different presets, adjust the EQ and experiment until you find your sound.

Thanks. I did just that yesterday. 49 worked pretty well at an outdoor venue. I'll keep fiddling around with it.

I would also recommend getting the Taylor ToneMatch presets & installing those on your L1. There are many that sound great with guitars other than Taylors. Check out this thread for details about the preset & to get the upgrade disc.

In a recent acoustic set up I did for several artists, there were a couple of times we plugged an acoustic into input 3 directly. Using the EQ just a little on the guitar itself, we dialed in excellent tones. One was a Gibson J-200 and it sounded great.
