I have a Martin D-28 with a L.R. Baggs M1 active pickup. I get a pretty good sound, but we are all looking for the best warmest natural sound that we can get. Thoughts on using a direct box etc.
Thanks for the feedback:

Question:
Plus or minus in using a direct box

Choices:
Yes
No

Hi Johnny Angel,

If you are talking about a DI box in the purest sense of the term then if it is a good one, it should make no difference at all.

If you are talking about an acoustic guitar preamp / DI (like the L.R.Baggs Para DI) then the best I have ever used is the T1 ToneMatch® Audio Engine.

It gives you great control over the sound, EQ, Effects, Presets and it is designed to work with your L1®.

St,
Thanks for the feedback. I have a TI along with a L1 modII. I also use a few pedals
like Boss DD6, TR2-tremelo and Jamman. I guess I need to work more on the overall settings
and keep tweaking.

Hi Johnny,

Went to your myspace page. Nice. Thanks for posting the link.

Can you tell us more about the your signal path?

Guitar (Martin D-28 with a L.R. Baggs M1 active pickup) to _________________________

and then what comes after that?

I would try running the Guitar into the T1®, then routing that to Aux. Then you could take the T1® Aux output to the pedals. Then bring the output of the last pedal back into the T1® (probably Channel 4/5).

This would give you the opportunity to use the T1® as your first device in your Guitar signal chain. You would get to experiment blending the clean signal (before the external effects) with the post-processing (after the external effects).

I'm just heading out of here for a bit, but if you need more details, see T1® Aux.

I would be interested to know how that works out for you.
