It's been said before elsewhere, but I just want to re-encourage all the pickers out there to take the time to experiment/sample each guitar preset, ignoring the "title".

I own a Taylor GS8 (with ES system), and have been happy with the sound on occasion, but never really thrilled. After plugging into a Compact recently, which uses the piezo preset, I was much impressed. I decided to try that preset at home on my Model II. Good, but not the same, exactly.

Anyway, I went through each preset, just listening for sound; I tried the piezo, Martin D28, Taylor GS of course, Taylor Jumbo, flat picked and fingerstyle whenever it was an option, condenser mic, dynamic mic...greatly surprised. Got some good sounds, wasn't sure which I preferred. I eventually tried Acoustic Guitar, Flat, ZEQ.

Excellent sound! Just what I was after! (go figure).

Of course, room acoustics affect my perception, so I'll have to confirm it at the next real gig, but I think I've found a home!

The point being, just try everything, think outside the box. BTW: I found the condenser mic preset to be very good, even though I'm not using a mic.

Haven't tried the nylon string presets yet, I'll still do that. You never know...

This takes a lot of time, of course, but once you have it, you have it. Cool
