Tom:

Slightly OT: Is it an optical illusion, or are you guys hanging your guitars on your L1 columns?

Does Bose ok this, and where did you get the brackets? I'm assuming this would not be a good idea without a guitar on each side, but I'm sure your electric weighs more than your acoustic, and what happens when you pick one up? Do you always replace it with another? (I don't own three guitars, LOL)

Thanks!

Hi Troisnoir,

Guitar hangers for the Bose L1™ are made by

http://www.wallacher.com/BOSE.html

And there is an incredibly long discussion about ways to hang Guitars from the L1™ here:

Guitar Hangers

I can't believe Guitar Center doesn't sell these, being the only Bose L1 dealer. But then they don't seem to stock the mic stand adaptors for the T1 either...

I'm still unsure about hanging a guitar off the column, exerting torque on the electrical connection at the base, but if Bose is ok with it, I guess it's good to go!

Thanks again for the info...

I have been using the guitar hangers attached to the speaker on my classic for a couple of years. It also works just fine on my L2 and I have had no problem with either (he said as he knocked on wood).

I checked with my local GC, and the salesperson said they deal with or can get Wallacher products, and so he could order the hanger for me, though they don't stock them. Just an FYI.

I've been using them for years ... no worries, no problems. Just be careful at outdoor gigs with wind.

I love 'em and regularly bring 3 guitars to a gig no matter how small the stage. But, I'm a guitar geek so more guitars than I need is to be expeceted from me. Smile

Here is my answer to the Wallacher hanger. I like the way it hangs and mounts on the L1, but I also very much like the closing clasp of the Hercules stands. The weight of the guitar closes the mechanism, and I have had several thousand dollar guitars saved in the past because it wasn't able to be pulled from the stand.

Here is how I did it.

I bought the Hercules Wall hanger.

And notched it to fit into the groove in the back of the L1,

Then I machined a piece of steel to fit into the back of the L1 with matching holes on it to hold the hanger.

I bought it narrow enough that I can loosen the wing nuts, and maneuver it to one side and then tilt it out of the groove to remove it for storage. The raised area of the wood keeps it from moving when secured.

I also had to machine the heads of the bolts down so they would fit in behind the steel plate.

Oh,

I forgot that I had to square out the holes so that the stove bolts would sit tight into the steel plate. (Previous Picture)

Then I mounted the two together and viola.

Finished sans paint

Pic 2. Note that the steel bracket sets on top of the bayonet, and keeps the whole unit from slipping down.

The wood block cut to fit into the groove keeps it from shifting from side to side, and the steel plate clamps the sides of the groove holding the block in place.

Very unlikely that it will come out.

Finished Final Pic, unpainted.

So, I am very excited to have one less stand to bring with me, and also to have my guitar out of the way in the back of the L1 during my breaks.

I will let you all know how it goes.

Thanks,

Wallacher actually has that kind of hanger too although they aren't advertised on their site. I can't remember the price offhand. You can contact them to find out more.
