Hi all
Just thought i'd share something we learned last night at a gig. We all know the L1 is not great in a corner but sometimes we have no choice at a venue. Last night we were in that situation, we were using 1 L1 and 4 B1's. We had to set up in the corner but this time instead of putting the L1 as far into the corner as we could we pulled it directly forward (at 45 degrees bisecting the corner) and left enough room behind to stack the 4 Bl's - (as far back into the corner as possible but facing out at 45 degrees). The result was an awesome sound, just pulling the "pole" directly out of the corner made a huge difference. Needless to say we had a great gig and sounded awesome Maybe others could try this if you find yourself in that situation. cheers all Cheers All Sparky |

Sparky G,
Thanks for the info on a corner set-up. My trio is running into a similar situation. We have a regular gig at a long narrow club and want to find the best set-up possible for us. Plus eliminate any feedback issues. We are set-up at one end of the club in sort of a 4 x 8 box. I'll try to post a sketch of the room. Any input is greatly appreciated. |

Hi guys,
One of the beauties of a L1 system is that you can experiment with its placement far more than you would be able to with a traditional PA system setup. I work mainly as a solo act and have experienced many poor performance situations. For example, I have had to move a L1 in front of me and about 1 metre to my left and have had to have it at the front of boxy stages to make it work. The funny thing is it has always worked; I have been able to hear myself even from behind the unit and have been able to enjoy the gig. Not something that can be said of some other systems/situations I have found myself in. Learning about, and being aware of how the system will couple with a room space will pay dividends and there is an excellent amount of info in the Wiki regarding this. I think Sparky's post is a great example of being open to the idea of different L1 placements beyond the best case examples shown in the manual and thanks for posting your exeperiences Sparky. Best wishes, Andy |
