I had the chance to work with the Warner Brothers recording artist the Dirt Drifters this last Thursday in Whitewater, WI. They are a country type of band with soulful lyrics.
The scene was a back-room of a coffee shop. I set up a Classic, Model 1 and Model 2 w/ one b1 each and one T1 each. Two acoustic guitars and one electric fender w/ small amp. One vocal (OM5) for each. The band normally play with bass and drums but elected to do a acoustic set that night. I can give all the presets, guitars, delay, para eq and the like but in the end, these guys sounded fantastic! An hour and 10 minute sound check which normally takes 10 minutes and over 2 hrs of actual playing time proved these guys were having some fun actually hearing what they playing. We had incredible balanced sound. Loud enough so they were not background music but not too loud to be painful. The band had incredible harmonies (3 part, two are brothers) and lead vocals. I can see why they were signed. If I wanted to start a label, I would sign them. The band went out of it's way to thank me. It was very satisfying to see the band having such fun playing where they normally are fighting a three tired sound system. I mentioned they could play this system every night and use the line outs. Maybe it'll sink in. I'll try to add some video later. The video sounded real good as it always does w/ the L1. Here is the band link, http://www.thedirtdrifters.com/ These guys have a solid future. Take care when clicking on the Dirt Drifter's website...especially if you are at work.
I had the volume up on the Bose Companion IIs. Quite the wake up call...for the whole store! Great music, glad the show went well for you. |
