Bottom line - Everything went great.
Mother nature was threatening us with serious storms. We were watching them across the Indian River over the main land as far as you could see north and south. Even with the park manager paying us while we were setting up ("just in case it rains!) and the other park employees moving their concession stand under a cabana, we kept positive thoughts (and a large blue tarp behind the stage). You will see in the following videos how we set up. Best placement for the 2 B1's was on the step. I was trying to get more bass w/o the speak rumbling on the deck. John, that Gamma pad would of done the trick. Here's what we learned at this gig. Outdoor gig's kill bass. Compared to our normal levels I had to make some extreme level changes to get some bass but nothing compared to enclosed rooms. I set up the H2 recorder about 3' in front of the Bose system. The recording was very boomy but not what were could hear on the stage or in the audience. I blended the Camera mic's in with the H2 tracks on these video clips just to get some highs and air in the mix. The other thing we learned is we like have the Bose system on the side of us, not behind us. While listening to the Camera's audio recording, it was obvious that (please no fat wife jokes here) when Kayte was between the L1 and the camera that it killed the sound. The Bose L1 was elevated on the stage and the camera was set up at sitting ear level so, she could basically hide the whole L1. I was surprised by this being it is recommended that the Bose L1 be set up behind the performers? Ok... Here's the great news. It didn't rain, everyone enjoyed the show and (the Bose folks will like this one) the Park manager said we had the best sound out of everyone that has played this concert series. We opened the second season and they had 9 shows last year. Pretty cool. I'll say it again and again, the Bose system gets us more gig's. Here's some video's I pulled from the show. Hi Mike & Kate,
Great gig. You two are getting some wonderful sounds, both from the Bose and the 2 of you are very talented. A nice playing style and beautiful vocal accompaniment. I loved "Landslide". Great team effort. The Best to you both. |

Hi Mike & Kayte ~
Sounded GOOD to me!!! I loved Landslide. It looks like you have a nice lighting system (but I'm not familiar with lighting systems). They really added that "extra" quality to your show, after dusk, and I loved the way your L1 tower was visible in the background. I'm pretty sure the Gramma Pad could have helped you keep the B1s on stage, but it looked like you worked it out. They do a good job of isolation on wooden stages. Nice job. |

Thank you Joe and John. We did the video/audio of the show for promotional material. The lights really add to the show and overall presentation. We have 2 Color palettes on the floor in front us at every evening show. Recomended!
