Hey all - long time no hear. We hosted another one of our house concerts this past Sunday with guitar great Jeff Pevar (of CPR fame). He asked if a stereo rig was available so I borrowed another L1 and B1 from a friend and ran two systems in stereo. It sounded amazing. Hopefully this picture I attached came through. One comment from Jeff was that the system had such great low end reproduction. He brought along a bunch of stuff including a Prosonic amp and an old Ampeg bass rig but said he really didn't need them after hearing the systems in action. We still used them though and the total sound was nothing short of inspiring. It's Tuesday and i'm still totally buzzing from that night of music. Jeff is an amazing player and a great soul too.
We were lucky to get him and to have such wonderful sound at our disposal.
Apparently my one picture file is too large - any suggestions how to get it to the forum??
Thanks for posting these ST. Yeah the home concert is something that we do a couple of times of year and it's really the best way to experience live music in my opinion. There are no distractions like you find in public venues and you are so close to the players that you really feel a part of it.
I first heard Jeff's playing when he did the CPR album with David Crosby back in '97. I then learned that he has had an amazing career playing along side some of the greatest legends in the music biz. The thing is that these side players have amazing talent and much to say on their own, therefore they are hungry for an appropriate outlet for this talent. You would be amazed who you can get to play at your home if you only ask them.
I was lucky enough to see keyboardist David Sancious when he was in Sting's band for the Soul Cages tour in '90 and then again for the Ten Sumner's Tales tour a couple of years later. He did a show in our home back in '05 that was just unbelievable. Granted I have had good connections to pull this stuff off but anyone can contact either of these guys and arrange this. I even had Sting's guitarist Dominic Miller lined up for last year but Sting needed him to go on tour with the Broken music tour a month early and he had to decline - but with a rain check in mind so that's cool. I won't get Sting or David Crosby - but these sidemen are the best in the business and you can't do much better than that!
I strongly encourage people to go after this under tapped resource.
