We have 2 L1's with 2 B's each and a Soundcraft mixer because we need 8 chanels. Sometimes 1 more. I was thinking running my bass from my Ampeg head to the board. The bass would be heard through both L1's by leaving the pan knob in the middle. the rest of the vocals and acoustic guitars panned either left or right and connect the left and right out on the board to either one of the L1. Question is, would that give me a good bass tone and what about still having a bass cab connected to my bass amp? I use an EQ that's inserted in the bass amp because the Gretsch tends to be a little treblely.

Hi Stephanie Bertholee,
Greetings from the left coast!
If you run the bass (or any signal for that matter) to more than one loudspeaker (L1® or other) you set yourself up for issues with multiple-source interference If you do want to try this, then try to put all the B1s physically together. See: B1 Bass Module Positioning
Try using your bass cabinet and take your line out from the bass head routed to the L1® closest to you (not both L1®s). Then put the bass cabinet beside, and preferably touching, the B1 for that system.
As you will read in the See: B1 Bass Module Positioning article... it depends. Not meaning to sound coy here; just acknowledging that acoustics, and bass in particular can be tricky, and your results will vary from room to room. But the idea of keeping individual sound sources coming through a single loudspeaker (or several acting as one loudspeaker), this is a good place to start. Glad you joined the message board! Welcome. PS If you want to show us your stage layout, try the The Sketcher (online tool for doing this - takes just couple of minutes and it's fun too). Please tell us more about your music:
Thank you. |

We play classic and new country plus blue grass. We do a lot of open mic where anyone can come and sing with the band. Our "home" is a Canadian Legion Branch. Our audience is mostly over 55 and the downstairs lounge holds about 60 people and we do have a fair size dance floor in front of the band. Our website is wwww.midnightblue.co.cc. We are excited about setting up for this week's gig, which will be the first time with the L1's. I do so appreciate this forum and all the advice given by everyone at Bose. I was really unsure about the bass setup but not anymore thanks to you guys.

Hi Stephanie,
I found you here: http://www.midnightblue.co.cc/ Is that you playing a White Falcon Bass? Just a note from a fellow Open Mic person: Thank you for sharing your music and your stage in this way. I wish I had the energy and a place to do an Open Mic every week. Typically I will host at least one a month and support another with at least that frequency. I really enjoy getting people up in front of the L1® System. Here are some notes about that if your are interested. Introducing Performers to the Bose System Your web site, and your comments above tell me that you are having a lot of fun and sharing that with like minded folks. Good for you. All the best Stephanie, ST |

Yes that's me and the White Falcon. I am a bit leery using it with the L1 because it is not like a solid body bass. However, I will find out this weekend when we set up for the first time. If there's anyone out there who plays a Gretsch bass with the L1 I sure would like to hear his/her experience.
