I'm asking this for my bass player who has no internet access (but he's got 5 color TV's).

Is it plausible and/or advisable to play a bass guitar thru a SansAmp into a packlite with 2 B1's and NO L1?

Hi JD1,

"Plausible" as in Mythbusters' "Plausible" - "yes". You won't break anything by trying. "Advisable" - is in the ear of the beholder.

Statistically nonsignificant report
I've tried running a bass preamp direct to a PackLite® Extended Bass Package (PackLite® amp + two B1 Bass Modules) (and I know I'm not the only one). You don't get the benefits of the dispersion of the upper frequencies as you would get with the full package (including an L1™).

That doesn't mean you can't use it that way. It's a relatively small woofer and it's good up to 3.5 kHz or thereabouts, which is plenty for many bass applications. It's not quite as smooth in the mid range as I would like for a "full range" speaker. Ultimately, your ears would have to be the judge of that.

I have tried this and was not satisfied with the sound .As ST pointed out in Hilmar's post

The bass would sound much better with the L1 and 2 B1s.
