Hi, Christian:

No matter what tuner, I find it easier to tune the octave harmonics for a bass guitar (you lightly touch the middle of the string with one finger while you pluck with the other hand, then immediately move both hands away from the string).

Besides being higher in pitch (the octave), it tends to also be a little "purer" (more sinusoidal) tone and easier for most electronic tuners to 'synch'.

Hi Dan.
O.K. Dan It is what I do usualy but I have a small Seiko ST737 guitar bass tuner at 25$ and it do a good job with any string. I just wanted to know if a Bose systeme (3,500$) could make the same thing?

Christian,

I agree the tracking on lower notes for bass could be improved. I have no problem with my low E, but I need to use harmonics on low B.

Stay tuned, we are working on this.

I've run into the same problem.

Check here:
Tuner upgrade?

I have been using the tuner in my Zoom B2 (as well as the preamp) with success in the meantime.

Also, another tip is to not push the signal too much when tuning. I have found that for bass it will pick up the note better when you let the string ring out for a bit. Worked well for my upright last night. It is still a bit touchy for my tastes, but it does work.
