I just received my first Bose products. Two L1M1's with 2 Bass modules each. I have only setup one system so far, but it has erased any doubts that I had. I had my doubts that the system would be loud enough. Its plenty loud with only one setup. I just have it hooked up to a **** mixer from RadioShack and it stills sounds OK. My new mixer and CD player are supposed to come tomorrow. I bought a Denon Mixer (DN-X900). I wanted a rack mount mixer. Should I have just bought the T1 from Bose?
The T1 is unbelievably good and nothing else really compares. I replaced my Mackie with it and can never go back to it. In fact I take my T1 with me if I have to perform on a conventional system and when I plug into it, it blows everything else away. I think Bose has a 45 day trial.
The T1 has a bit of a learning curve to use it properly. I would say it is more of a "Performers Mixer" than a DJ's, only in the context that DJ's may wish to go stereo and tend to like slider adjustments.
The sound of a T1, especially using USB from a Laptop computer is fantastic and the ability to use "Tonematch Presets" for various instruments and microphones is great. Notching out for certain frequency issues and fine tuning takes a bit of reading and experimentation, but the results are very good.
As a performer, I would not trade it for any other mixer.
I agree with JoelHeck completely. You may only use part of its capabilities that suit your needs, and the learning curve for that will be short.... but the sound is amazing and you won't go back to anything else. I love the performance directly from my laptop thru the USB (itunes). It just exceeds expectations.
Are you a musician or a DJ? I DJ and I'm not sure if the T1 would work for me. I will be using a laptop to play 95 percent of my music and a cd player to play the rest.

I guess I should read all the posts first. I see that you use a laptop so I'm going to assume that you DJ. Do you use two systems and if so how do you connect the two through the T1?

Hi Jakama, I sing on tracks (karaoke) and dj occasionally for a lot of charity events. I do this as a hobby, and not as a profession. You might want to check the KJ and DJ forum out for more specific suitability. In your case you probably won't use most most of the features on the T1. Your laptop connects thru the USB and your CD player goes into channel 3 thru a MONO 'Y' cable. However, in your case, I am not sure if you need the T1 if you are mostly going to DJ. You might want to read more posts by DJ's to help you decide. Good luck.

We have a section in the wiki devoted to DJs and questions like this.
When you connect the computer to the T1® using USB, you bypass the internal sound card and use the built-in sound card in the T1®. You can try it both ways, but I REALLY like the T1® sound card.
It is also simpler / more convenient:
No gain staging issues (matching output of laptop analog output to input on T1®)
If I want to run mono USB does not require me to use Channels 1,2,3 or 4/5 - leaving these open for other inputs if I need them.
If I do want stereo I can do it as described in the link in my previous post - and this still only requires one T1® Channel. If I want to run stereo using the analog connection from laptop I would have to use two T1® Channels (1, 2, 3, or 4/5)
Optionally lets me route the USB audio through Channel 4/5 if I want to use Presets, EQ or effects
I prefer the USB connection because it seems more robust physically
Does that help?

Thanks ST, I am using the factory laptop sound card. I sure will try it. I am running mono into my compact via T1. If I don't feed it to 4/5, how do I control volume other than master volume. My midi software has a virtual slider, inconvenient to adjust during performance.

Hi St There is always a work around. I run my keyboard on CH 2 with a volume pedal. In the event I need 4/5 for something else, I can leave headroom on my pedal and compensate for varying master volume levels with it.

I am not sure about this but I don't think itunes has a graphic interface. I simply play the karaoke tracks digitally thru the USB. Saves me from carrying lots of CD's.
