I broke the clasp on the T1 mic stand adapter. I guess it was my fault trying to get too tight a fit. I've just ordered a new one.

Anyone else had problems either with it being loose or breaking?

I'm aware of the rubber pads that can be adjusted to suit, but some mic stands seem to fall in between two settings.

Hi SteverUK,

Sorry to hear about that Steve. You aren't the first.

Have a word with your dealer about that broken mic stand clasp. Maybe s/he will have some compassion for you. Just a thought.

Also - there are two connection bars on the outside of the clasp. Having two seems to cover the microphone stands that fall between the two settings.

Finally - once you find a setting that works you can just leave the clasp on the stand (assuming that you bring the stand with you to each gig).

Thanks ST - again! Now that I have looked carefully at the unit, as you say, there are two connection bars, so in future it should be ok.

Cheers!

I had my second one break and Bose replaced it for me, NC.
MF replaced the first one.
Both were only a month or so old.

I found that both times one broke was when I tried to clasp it using the *first* tab.
By the time you get to the second tab, there is more plastic around it to re-inforce it.
So that's my opinion on the "tab selection" issue.
I know someone else on the forum recommended using that first tab.
Can't agree on that one.

Thanks for the responses guys. I've got a new one on order from my dealer, but now that I know a few of these have broke, I'm gonna ask my dealer if he can sort it out as 'free' replacement.

Mine broke the other day and I had this tray sitting around from when I used it for sheet music.

http://www.zzounds.com/item--QLKMS303

I now have a vertical tray on the left of my mic stand that I put a Tablet on. I'm using the tray above for the T1. I put this tray on the right side of the mic stand and I put the T1 to the left on it and I placed a small piece of velcro on the top right of the tray. There, I place a tiny back-velcroed Nano player for any backup tracks and background break music. I should have done this before. Everything is much more solid and reachable than before. The only thing I wonder is if it is harmful to the cords to dangle over the tray and head down.

I also purchased a mic stand adapter online from bose and it broke the day I got it . For 30+ $ it seems like it shouldn't break that easy.

Hi All

I velcro'ed my Tonematch to the top right of my keyboard. There is sits nice and snug and I don't have to worry about it falling. I also velcro'ed by my wireless receiver on the top left of my keyboard. Works for me and everything is at my fingertips. The mic stand adapter is just to scary for me.

Unfortunately many of us don't have a keyboard in front of us, otherwise that would be a nice choice.
Man I wish I had invented Velcro.

My first bracket, the pin fell out. Bose promptly sent a replacement.
I have been using the replacement bracket for 2 years now, with no problems at all.

I have learned the following:
Some Microphone stands (mine is a On Stage Stands) need the 2nd notch to clamp correctly.
The 1st notch would be too tight.
The arm needs to be in place correctly, depending if the clamp is facing right or left.
If not, the T1 will appear wobbly. With the correct orientation, the T1 sits there fine with no issues.
If it doesn't sit right, turn the arm around and re-insert into the bracket.
It is a good idea and also looks neater, if you take the Velcro strip from the T1 cable and secure your cables to the stand.

Hey, I just started a new topic on this issue, having missed this one in my diligent search... (Ah, successfully deleted, and here it is. Glad to find this thread.)

I have just spoken with a very helpful customer support person about replacing broken T1 mike stand adaptor clips.

The clip itself is my issue. Although cleverly designed and extremely adaptable, we in our trio have serious issues with them wearing out--falling apart or actually breaking. We have purchased replacements as well as spares, but they continue to wear out. At this writing, I've got one busted one and two looking a bit stretched.

We play 2-5 gigs a month, always using our T1s, though sometimes using someone else's mic stands. So we've got 3 permanently attached to our stands (they break and come apart less, but are looking stretched), and three that we carry in our T1/mic bag to use when we don't have our own stands.

I am the heaviest user, with 3 guitar cables in addition to a short mic cable. My T1 sits firmly on the bracket, but tilts away from the stand, as it's a lot of weight for the clip portion. So far, it works fine, though looking at the strain on the clip and the increasing tilt of my T1, I worry about it breaking mid-gig.

The vulnerable portions, in my observation, are:

  • the hinge, whose little wire sometimes falls out (my hubby has even fabricated a replacement or two) during adjustment or when clipping on.
  • the flanges (is that the right word?) onto which the clip grabs, which tend to wear down or break off.
  • The whole thing, which after many gigs, looks stretched and holds the bracket arm at a tilt.

I have seen the very clever homemade substitutes, which look solid indeed, but might not meet our particular needs.

I wonder whether a redesigned clip might be in the works. I think it would be a good idea to just make the puppies a bit more robust. They're terrific, otherwise!

Hi Joel

If so some reason I don't take my keyboard and am using just background tracks, I have an Xstand that has a nice shelf on top. You guessed it.....I velcro'ed the shelf with two strips and the ToneMatch and my wireless receiver sit on the shelf nice and secure. IF we can invent "silent Velcro" then we will be billionaires Joel.

Mine broke the day I got mine too. But the guys at Bose sent me another before I could even get mine back to them. Great service. I have left my on my stand since, so I am hoping to never take it off in case it breaks again.

I wonder if Bose would consider making an adjustable metal bracket with a wing nut or similar fastener. This would work well if you wanted to leave it on the stand or go to the trouble of taking it off after each gig.

I have broken two of the current brackets. One I had left on the stand, and the other I kept loose. Perhaps I was clamping in the wrong notch. I put the T1 on a stool until I got replacements.

A very small complaint about a wonderful product that has definitely extended and improved my career as an entertainer.

Respect,

The current design makes it so easy to leave on the stand. Our 3 vocal mic stands all sport permanent Bose bracket clips. You can still retract the mic stand for gig bag storage, and there it is for a quick setup next gig.

There is still stress on the little fellas, though, as I mentioned seeing their slightly stretched look and looser fit.

It's an ambitious little item, when you think of it. Typically elegant Bose design, really useful--so gets used a LOT--subject to wear and tear.

I am hoping that a 2.0 version keeps the elegant size and versatility, while strengthening the hinge and bars.

Call me crazy.

I just got my T1. I'm thru with my hissy fit that they did not include a simple notch for the attachment arm in my L1C L1 Compact.

You guys have obviously used it on the road - i have not. I just don't feel like I trust the sturdiness of Bose's method. Tell me your experiences.

I'm thinking more along these lines: http://accessories.musiciansfr...lity-Tray?sku=421011

That is a handy tray, I use one for my Mouse and SPL Meter.
My T1 Bracket has held up ok for 2 years.

Hi all, just back from a gig at the coast, where we used our new mic stand brackets. We used the nifty fitting cards and did well with OPMSs.*

However, to my point about the hinges: we had just taken a new clip out of its plastic bag, and upon opening it to attach to the mic stand...... the pin fell out .

Really, really needs a fix. That pin disappeared amongst gear bags and carpet. Fortunately, we had the previously busted clip handy and used its hinge pin.

Would love version 2.0. Because they are GREAT and an asset to those who need the T1 handy for multiple instruments, etc. Such a clean setup.

Use the quicklok tray. Put a strip of Industrial Velcro in the center of the tray and the other strip in the center of your Tonematch. You'll be all set!
