Boss rc-50 -> guitar, banjo and Vocals and an L1 Compact

Hiya folks,

My first post here.. so be kind. Wink

I'm a singer/songwriter and multitrack guitar/clawhammer banjo & my vocals through the boss rc-50 loopstation.

I've been testing the L1 Compact on it's own and was going to place an order this week.

Currently my set up is
Vocals -> Yamaha MG82 -> Loop station -> PA
Guitar -> Yamaha MG82 -> Loop station -> PA
Banjo -> Yamaha MG82 -> Loop station -> PA

Basically, with the above constellation of inputs, is tonematch worth the extra $$$ or not?

Look forward to any replies.

Hi astrochicken,

Thank you for joining the Forum.

If you have enough inputs on the RC50 now then you don't NEED the T1®.

I looked up the manual for the Boss RC50 and it looks like it has only two outputs. I would probably use the Left (Mono) output to Compact Channel 2 with the ToneMatch Switch set to Line Level.

You could run the T1® in front of the RC50. That's what I do with my Boss RC3, and that sounds great.

This would give you great control and effects for your vocal microphone and instruments.

Do you use the same cord for the banjo and guitar? If you had the T1® you could have a separate channel with Preset, EQ, and effects for each instrument, and the same for your vocal microphone.

Does that help?

Hiya St,

Presently i'm running an 8 channel mixer (mg82cx) in front of the rc-50, so the vocals/guitar/banjo are on 3 seperate inputs with their own presets fed in to the RC-50 (where the instrumens are panned left and the vocals right so i have 2 seperate mono outputs for the PA).

I'm obviously going to have to try out and compare the tonematch (as opposed to my current mixer) in a live setting and see how it sounds and feels.
