Apologies if this has been discussed before . . . I have a Compact and a T1. Looking at expanding. Was thinking of another Compact, but also looking at other options as well. What am I getting for the additional $500 when comparing the Model I and Model II (both w/ 1 Bass Module), other than the "smaller" footprint of the Model II? Is sound disbursement going to that much of a difference between the two? I see with the Model I, I could run it without the T1 like my Compact if I wanted to. I play country, classic rock, oldies, blues - everywhere from bars, country clubs, restaurant/night clubs etc. With a band (3/4 piece) and also solo and duo situtations. Thanks in advance ! ! ! Hi Tom, The sound disperson of the Compact and Model II are very similar (extremely wide). I think that you will find that after using the Compact, you will find the Model I to sound less clear at the extreme edges. You will notice this on stage with respect to monitoring, especially if you are on a shallow stage. With the Model II, if you can see it in a room, then you can probably hear it clearly. You have a lot of flexibility with respect to where you put it. With the Model I, you will need to be give this more thought. With the Model II, the shape and weight (rectangular 30" x 12", 25 pounds) make it really easy to carry in and out of a venue, even if that venue is crowded or cramped, or if you have to climb stairs. The Model I, although lighter than a lot of gear is still about about 27" x 27" and 35 pounds and this means that it is less easy to manage in a crowd or on stairs. I am reasonably certain that if you are used to the T1®, you will take it with you to every gig regardless of whether you get a Model II or Model I. The Model I will allow two more inputs than the Model II with T1®, but if you don't need those last two inputs, this may not matter. If you run at the same stage volume, I think you will find that the Model II covers four times the area of the Compact. (twice as far in every direction). I think that you will find that the Model I covers twice as far forward, but it will seem less effective at the sides. You'll still hear the Model I on the sides, but the Model II will sound clearer. The short answer: I think that if you get a Model I, you will feel as though you have been spoiled by the Compact. The Model II will feel: More, Better. Does that help? | |||

Looks like I may be getting the Model I instead - I passed up on the used Model II because a dealer had given me a pretty good deal on a new one, but when I went down there to pick it up they were "out of stock" even though I had received an email that we were "good to go" whenever I was ready, and I let them know that I was going to be there the next day (and I was there 5 minutes after they opened the doors). Oh well, sorry for that rant.
