Hi All,

I got my T1 a few weeks back (using it with a classic) and noticed that the overall volume is probably 30% less than when using the old remote. Unfortunately when I try to compensate and turn everything up I get the dreaded feedback.

I am setting Channel 3 at 2, as per the instructions, but I'm wondering if I should be setting that higher. I'm using an unbalanced 1/4" cable.

Thanks.

Hi Bell,

Bill-at-Bose & MikeZ-at-Bose have just updated the recommendation for the Power Stand setting to 3

reference: T1 Power Stand Setting

Bill-at-Bose reminded us today that the input trim setting is different on the T1.

In a way, the yellow trim on the T1 is similar to how you treat the red on the Classic. Some yellow during peaks is good on the T1, just like some red on the Classic is good.

If the T1 trim is going red, you should back off, you are definitely nearing or in compression.

A really helpful feature on the T1 is to go to the Prefs/Output Level menu, and see where you are relative to maximum output.

I hope that helps,
Bill

My input trim setting is "12 o'clock" ... just straight ... sound pretty good, no hiss, no feedback, plenty of headroom ... the recommended "2" setting is definately too low ... love my L1 Classic/T1 combination! www.blissnblue.com

Hi Folks,

Here and in a few other areas, there's been a good discussion about volume levels in the L1 classic vs the Model II.

I think there are two separate issues:

  • How LOUD can the Model II play vs. the Classic or the Model I?

  • If you set trim and channel volumes on the T1 similarly to the Classic, will you hear the same sound level?

As to Question 1, The Model II system plays as loud as the Classic or the Model I. Moreover, the Model II is no more or less susceptible to microphone feedback than the Classic of the Model I.

Question 2 is being answered thoroughly in other threads. My take is that the Model II and the Classic are two different products in the same family. There are some differences in how the gain staging is done. The best course in my opinion is on both units to set the trim levels and leave those alone, then use channel and master gain to bring the level to the desired amount. Again, there's no difference in the maximum sound levels.

It seem like the LII is percieved to be a little quieter compared to the Classic. Several have posted that the Classic has a sweet spot that they could hear themselves better by standing in one location in front of it as opposed to another spot just off to the side. The LII sound seems to surround you with sound and not come from a point source. Could this be due to the angled speakers having a different sound angle than the Classic? I also think that the sound that comes from the LII is more pleasant sounding and the T1 is amazing! THUMPER

Hi THUMPER,

There are differences we hear in a direct A/B comparison between the two units and yes, they are almost entirely due to the differences in the arrays (one being articulated).

When listening to full bands play on the MII, my impression has been that they are actually a little more dynamic (not really louder). In terms of how this sounds, I've guessed that it's due to the difference in how the lower range of the L1 speaker is done in the MII.

Thanks Ken. I also notice that with the T1 and MII, "I have much more bass" than with my Classic. Is the MII/T1 combo tuned more effieciently for this? I think that the tweaking ability of the T1 has a lot to do with it and for me is a great improvment over the classic remote
