I'm just home after a gig where my ToneMatch stopped working mid-show Mad
At the interval I determined that my L1MkII stand was still functioning and that all ancillary leads including the TM lead were fine.
The output stage of the ToneMatch seems to have died. All input led's flashed as normal with vocals and guitar being played.
I switched the TM and L1MkII on and off several times, individually and together but to no avail. I got through the gig by plugging into my mate's TM and his system but this was far from ideal.
We have gigs upcoming on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Any ideas PLEASE??!!

Hello guitarmarkymark,

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with your Tonematch engine. It is possible that this issue can be resolved by updating the firmware on your Tonematch and L1 MII power stand.

You can check the current firmware of your system by having the T1 and L1 connected, and on the T1 you go to prefs => menu => versions. The DSP Firmware number displayed is for your Tonematch.

Then while you are still in prefs, you can go to menu => power stand and it should display your power stand firmware.

If the Tonematch firmware is anything besides 1.7 or 1.8, I would recommend updating it. If the Power Stand firmware is not 1.3, I would recommend updating that.

To update both these units, have them connected together and then connect the Tonematch via USB to your computer. Then you will need to download the L1 Updater Tool (for either PC or Mac), as well as the firmware file(s).

Here are some links for the files:
Downloads on Bose.com
Downloads on the L1 Wiki (the wiki page includes instructions)

If that is not successful, please give us a call at (877) 335-2673 when you are with the system.

Thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam,
Thanks for your response. My TM firmware is 1.7 and PS firmware is 1.3. However, as I've set up the system at home everything is now working!!??
I can't obviously play through it at gig volume but I get the impression that I'm down on power although I'm not absolutely positive on this.
I neglected to mention that during a gig about six weeks ago, I got two LOUD bangs from the system while playing. These occured over a period of about ten minutes.
Where does this leave me? I have to say I have lost some confidence in the system. Will it work tomorrow or will it go down on me again? Why is the TM working now and not last night?

Regards,
Mark.

Hi Mark,

It's possible that a particular venue you are playing at could have less than ideal power. A lot of bars and clubs were not designed with high-wattage PAs in mind. That makes them more susceptible to voltage drops, spikes, and also interference from other appliances on the same circuit, which can sometimes result in undesired operation and/or noise for any PA system.

One thing that might help you is running through a line conditioner, which is a kind of surge suppressor that also regulates voltage. That should help if these issues are being caused by "dirty power".

However, if it keeps occurring, you should definitely give us a call.

Thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam,
I use a surge protector with my L1MKII always so its unlikely that it's a power spike problem. Also my mate who was performing with me was unaffected which could possibly rule out a power sag situation. I definitely think there may be a problem with the ToneMatch.
Anyhow I'm going to have to use it tonight and hope for the best. If I have a problem then I'll give you a call or return the TM to the dealer.
Regards,
Mark.
