Hi,
We have just taken delivery of our 2 x L1 Sys2 with 6 bass cabs (AND AMP) and a tonematch. We input all drums and guitars (10 inputs) into our Mackie mixing desk and vocals all go into tonematch (3 mics). Tonematch is connected to right L1, mixer outputs left and right are connected into left and right L1's respectivly, however.........
We can only get vocals out of the L1 connected directly by the tonematch.
How can we get vocals and all instruments out of the second L1 so we have sound matched out of both and can we pan certain things on our mixer left and right etc.
Thanks

Hi Skoda1,

Welcome to the L1 forum!

To get the Tonematch signal to come through both systems, you can use the 1/4" Master Out on the Tonematch, which is outputting a signal that is identical to what is is sending to your right system.

Since your mixing board is using the analog input on your systems, the best way to do what you are looking for would be to take the master out on the Tonematch into an empty channel on your Mackie mixing board, and then pan that channel hard left on the board.

This should cause your board to send the T1 signal containing the vocals to only the left system, and since it is already coming out of the right system, you would then have vocals from both systems. All you would need to do is set the trim/gain and volume setting for that channel on your mixer, so that the vocals sound balanced between left and right.

Also, with your set up, you can definitely pan any of your instruments left or right as you so desire.

Thanks for your post!

Hi Skoda1,

Thanks for using The Sketcher! Here is your Sketch.

Legend:

Orange numbers are Systems and Inputs using those Systems.
Green numbers are for general notes about the Sketch and connections to non-Bose gear.

Cannot get vocals out of both L1 units.
Our unpowered mixer takes all guitars and drums.
Vocals all go into ToneMatch.

Thanks for your reply and very informative. However we do not have any spare inputs on the mixer desk. A suggestion from an IT chap is possibly to take the cat 5 output from the tonematch and split this into two signals thus passing one to left and one to right. How do you feel about this as I think that the tonematch would be receiving 2 power sources from Left & Right L1 units.
What about putting L and R mixer outputs into tonematch 4/5 and outputting master out to left L1 unit?
Many thanks

If you do not have any spare inputs on your mixer, then running the outputs of the mixer into channels 4 and 5 on your Tonematch, then outputting the 1/4" master to the left unit would be the best solution.

I would not recommend attempting to split the Tonematch (cat5) cable, because it carries power to the Tonematch in addition to carrying the audio signal.

Thanks,

Adam

Hmm, tried outputting the master out from the tonematch into mixer as drummer freed up a channel, but the led'son the mixer did not react and therefore no sound. Is there a setting on the tonematch that needs turning on to get output from master out?? Also AUX out did not work either.
Thanks
Mike

The Master out should always be active. Depending on your setting, it will either be a fixed volume or would be dependent on the Master volume knob. (To check that setting, go to prefs => menu => master out.)

The aux output will send out audio based on the volume levels set on the "aux" screen, and will not correspond to the setting on the regular volume knobs.

Since neither output works, it may be a bad cable or a channel/setting on the mixer, so you can try a different cable or channel to see if that resolves it.

If you are still stuck after that, feel free to give us a call at (877) 335-2673.

Thanks and good luck!
