L1 Classic keeps cutting out mid gig!Go ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
Hi, I bought an L1 Model 1 Classic with 2x B1's from Ebay here in the UK about 8 months ago and it has started to cut out about half an hour into our first set when playing live. At first, the sound comes back after about ten seconds but, each time it happens after that, the length of time it stays off becomes longer and longer until, in a blind panic and with an increasingly impatient audience, we are forced to abandon the unit and put everything through our guitarist's Classic. We use my faulty L1 with bass guitar and lead vocals, whilst the other is used for lead guitar and backing vocals. So far, both units have worked flawlessly and we love our Classics. However, after two, much-interrupted gigs, we are going to have to abandon my L1 because we can't trust it to last the night. After searching the forum for any similar occurences, there appeared to be some evidence that it might be something to do with the bass bins/speakon cables. However, this theory was quickly dispelled at our gig last night when we tried it with the bass bin from the other L1 and a brand-new cable. The same, constant drop-outs occured after the powerstand had been on for about an hour. The green power LED was still lit, even though there was no sound being emitted from the speakers. I am posting this in the(desperate)hope that someone may have experienced this problem before and can explain what is the cause. In my many years of playing in bands and experience of breakdowns, the hardest ones to diagnose and repair are always the intermittent ones. I am worried in case I return the unit to Bose UK for repair and they report that there seems to be nothing wrong with it! Hopefully, they will be able to test it under the same conditions under which the fault occurs? Incidentally, I ran it at home yesterday for seven hours with my MP3 player and there wasn't a single drop-out. So we arrived a our gig fairly confident that it had been a one-off which was caused by dodgy electrics in the venue where it had happened!.................... Wrong!! So, to sum up, it only appears to happen at fairly loud gigging volumes after about half an hour of playing. Any ideas/suggestions would be gratefully accepted. Sorry for the ratherlong-winded description but I wanted to give as much detail as possible. Cheers, Geoff Stockport, UK

Hi STRATMAN2, I’m sorry about the issue you’re experiencing with your L1 system! Since you have already swapped parts with the other members’ L1 systems and connected different sources to the system, it does sound like the issue is related to your L1. At this point it would be best to discuss the situation with our technical support team. Please visit http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/contact-us/ for contact information and assistance. Thank you, Bob Bose L1 Support ---------------------- 1-877-335-2673 (Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 9:00PM ET; Saturday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM ET)
