Hello. Let me first say that I'm not a technical guy at all, That's one of the reasons I purchased the tower for myself. Easy to set up, easy to use, etc. I've been using it for about 3 years and love it. The last two gigs I played, however, I've been getting a weird buzz through the system.
I just play an acoustic Taylor with the expression system and an AKG microphone. Last time I played I could make the buzz stop by simply touching something metal, like the 1/4 inch guitar cable, or the microphone. Is that indicative of a ground issue? Any suggestions? Thanks... |

Hi Spiffthedog,
Welcome to the L1 forum! Glad to hear you have been enjoying your system. This buzz definitely sounds like a grounding issue to me. You may want to try setting up your system at home to see if it is isolated to a particular venue. If it is still there, the next step would be to figure out which part of the signal chain the buzz is coming from. Are you running through any surge protectors or other devices that may have a grounding issue? Is there any other part of your set up that plugs in for power besides the L1? You could be creating a ground loop if that is plugged into a different circuit. Otherwise the best method is trial and error. Try just the mic without the guitar connected, and then reverse it. Try a different guitar/mic cable as well. Whichever swap makes the buzz go away will identify your culprit. Let us know if you have more questions, and thanks for posting! |
