Using Soundcraft mixer with L1-Model + sub and sending line level signal to Ch 1 on 1/4" TRS.
(1) Currently just leave Channel 1 trim barely turned up but understand that gain structure might possibly be improved by using 20db "pad". Thought about using simple in-line attenuator but wondered if using a direct box with ground lift switch might prove to be more versatile. Can you recommend a few inexpensive direct boxes that you think might work the best for me ? (2) Sometimes use 2 units (L1 + sub) connected with 1/4" Y-splitter when there are more than 2 performers. Would it be better to run separate lines in the snake to each unit or just keep on using the splitter ? (Normally use mono mix.) |

Hi Boog,
Welcome to the L1 Forum! For #1, we do not recommend any specific DI boxes or in-line attenuators. You can certainly use them with the L1 system, but you may find you do not need them. It sounds like you are using an L1 Model I, in which case you can run the line-level signal into either channel 3 or 4, which are both designed for a line level signal, as opposed to channels 1 and 2 which are designed for mic/instrument level signals. #2) You should get better results using two separate lines out of your mixer, as long as they are both mixed to mono. While using a y-splitter is acceptable, it does attenuate the signal, which means you will have to turn the volume on the L1s louder than you need to compensate. Thanks for your post! |
