I've just recently purchased a L1Compact & I need some advise on how I can enhance the sound.
I most probably will buy a T1 in the future but for now I'm thinking a touch of reverb would go a long way into inspiring me to play my Taylor 816ce through the L1C. In the last couple of years I've tried a ton of amplifiers & have just become depressed. When I evenually heard about the L1Compact hope was kindled again. When I just plug straight into it & play, I'm much more pleased with sound than all those amps I tried, but I need something to take the rough edges off & smooth it out. Thus I was hoping you might know of a resonable reverb unit {pedal} that works well with the L1Compact or perhaps you might understand the sound I'm after & have some other suggestion. I'm basically a fingerpicker. I use about 15 Altered tunings now {At one time it was over a hundred but I was losing my mind so I cut back}. Michael Hedges is probably my favorite player but I love Martin Simpson, Alex de Grassi & the list goes on. If I could get a tone close to Martin Simpsons playing I would be in heaven. Anyway I hope to hear from someone soon & I'd just like to thank you all for your helpfulness & dedication to what you do. Reading a few letters in the different forums led to that conclusion rather quickly. Thanks again |

Dear Frets,
Thank you for the question. Here are several types that will work: If you want a stompbox/pedal for just guitar, my favorite mass produced pedals are made by Boss. The RV-5 is a particular standout. Check out the link here (wait through the loud musical intro) http://www.bossus.com/gear/pro...tId=424&ParentId=255. You can go a little more involved, and check out the AD-8 "acoustic guitar processor", which has built in reverb. http://www.bossus.com/gear/pro...tId=570&ParentId=259 There are many other brands out there that will work, Boss was just an example that I'm familiar with. I really recommend going to your local music store, plugging in, and try out several brands. Thank you, and have a great day! -Eric-at-Bose |

Hi Eric
Thanks for replying. I've been away from my computer for a week {I was going through withdrawals}, first time thats happened in 7 years, so I couldn't get back to you sooner. While I was waiting for your reply I went out to look at some reverb units. After 3 or 4 stores I landed up at Long-McQuaid & purchased a T1. Only problem was I would have to wait a week till their new stock came in. Anyway they lent me a Boss RV 5. I have a Boss CE5 {Chorus Ensemble} so I hooked them both up to the compact & was able to acheive some fairly nice sounds at low volume. When I turned the volume up past 12 o'clock I was getting a terrible loud hum & every hour or so for a few minutes the strangest pops & unearthly sounds would start happening. My dog was barking with his hackles up somewhat freaked. LOL. I'm rambling. So I got the T1 yesterday & was still getting the hum only louder. I was getting down until a light came on in my head with the thought that I needed a new jack cord. I just went out & bought another cable the same as I purchased a few months ago. This was the problem. I now have hardly any hiss at high volume & the tone I'm getting now is also much, much better. 50% better. This is great. This is close to what I've dreamed about for years. Thank you for everything. I have a few more questions but I'll ask later. Just have to play now. |
