I'm a new user of the Bose Forum and enjoying reading a lot of the posts. I play trumpet/flugelhorn and have been downloading some great sounding backing tracks from iTunes. Do any solo acts have any good sources for backing tracks that I can use for jazz/r&b/standards? I connect my iPod classic to my T1 mixer (channels 4/5) using an 1/8" to dual 1/4" cable. The sound is incredible thru my L1 Model 1 w/ B1 system.
Thanks! RWHorn |

My favorite spot for backing tracks is:
http://www.drum-tracks.com/newmain10.htm This is a site by Jim McCarty, a drummer. The tracks are all bass and drums only so it frees up a lot of space for your instrument and avoids that 'karaoke' sound. He can also do 'made to order' stuff. |

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Try this site for your backing tracks, http://www.standardstrax.com/home it's run by a grand Scottish musician who goes by the name of Alan McPike. He's a keyboard player and makes excellent backing tracks, has a great catalogue that you can preview online and does escellent custom tracks for a reasonable fee, all tracks are available by download, CD or both. Hope this was helpful. Sing like you mean it..........or else shut up and let someone else do it! |

Thank you both Wayne and Eric for the recommendations on backing tracks. The standardstrax seem to be more of what I'm looking for since they use more of the rhythm section. Here is another good site: http://www.smoothjazzbackingtracks.com/index.html

I make most of my own, but I have used MIDI Hits.com before, and their tracks are great. They have both MIDI, and mp3 tracks, for a reasonable price.

RW- What I do for my full band is that I grab midi files off the Inet and go through them to make sure that all the parts are there that I want and that the thing is has all the verses, choruses, etc.
I then drop it into Cakewalk (used to be a good program but drives me nuts these days!). I swap out crummy sounds with good ones. By the way Cakewalk MC5 is like 40.00 and it has a lot of good sounds with it. I then add a click to it, pan the click one way, pan the other stuff the other way and it works really well. If there are parts missing, I'll add them with keyboard or guitar. Run the whole thing via minidisc. |

Bry...thanks for the info! I haven't merged into midi yet and need to learn more about it. My brother uses Cakewalk in his recording studio (former dining room!!) and will have to pic his brain since he is a keyboard player.
