I hope they don't come out with a new one. Liking the one I just got and am horrified at the thought of spending more dough.

HOWEVER- I love the system I have. Now if I can just iron out other problems with the sound. That's another thread and probably some counseling. (hence the 'going solo' thread!)

Yes, I know what you mean... I got mine in April (I think) and will be paying on it for... 8 more months...I think Smile

A big tip is to lower the amount of reverb... try to keep it at about 20% and cut down the brightness to 40%.

Some places are tough to conquer even for the L1, but if you learn how to operate the ParaEQ, you can at least minimize the issues...or lessen them a bit. Other than that, I do a whole lot less EQ'ing nowadays than I used to.

well, the "issue" I'm having is that I'm playing with a lead guitarist who plays INCREDIBLY soft. In all my years of playing, I've never met anyone with such a light tough. So I have to completely jack his channel, then turn everything else down, then turn things up with the master.- This is probably another topic.

This is a great topic for discussion.

PLEASE start a new thread for that.

It is probably best to do that in the Ensembles Forum.

Am I playing in your other band?

I did get a chance to try it out in a large room last weekend. I was duly impressed. I was hooked up to two L1's and I'm estimating the seating capacity to be around 600 to 700.

No feedback!!!

I did use the DPA in conjunction with my guitar's internal pickup, mostly because by mixing the two I ended with (to my ears) a very decent acoustic sound. Though I've also found that the microphone holds up on its own as well.

I'm still testing the microphone and currently rehearsing through headphones and I really like the sound I'm getting. Mic placement makes a lot of difference so I'm still not sure if I've found the best sound yet!

So far, though, the sound is definitely fuller. Also there is hardly any of that piezo 'quack' sound anymore. It really does sound very natural and acoustic now. It's not quite of recording quality (to my ears) but perhaps adjusting the position might improve things there. There is a marked improvment though, for sure.

If the weather holds up for this weekend I get to perform live, at least one time, possible twice with the DPA (both outdoor gigs) so should know after this weekend if I'm going to have any other feedback-related issues, and what the sound is going to be like (first gig has house sound so don't know if the sound guy is willing to entertain me plugging the mic in. Second gig will be with my L1/T1, etc).

With my tests so far, I'm very confident that the sound is going to be outstanding. Now...if my playing matches the sound quality I should be in good shape (haven't found a gadget to help me there yet)!
