Would anybody like to share their Tonmatch settings for Vocals? I just picked up an Audix OM7 and it seems to really work well. I realize that much of this is personal taste, vocal type and tied to the microphone you are using. Below is what I am doing. Please feel free to share you ideas and thoughts. Thanks!
Mic - Audix OM7 Mic Pre - Up 3/4 of the way (you have to really crank it for the OM7) Setting - OM6 (there is no OM7 setting) EQ - Low up 2.0db, Mid 0 flat, High up 2.0db Para EQ - Off Comp2 - Medium Thresh -23.5, Gain 5.0 db Mod - Off (does anybody us this on vocals?) Delay - Off (does anybody us this on vocals?) Ch Reverb - Mix 27%, Bright 30% Rverb Type - Medium Time 1.75ms, Bal. 53% |

Hi Sharkbyte,
While I am using a different microphone, the EV 767, with the trim at about 2:00, I am curious as to the compression setting. I have had a bit of an issue, using compression and getting feedback. I like the feel of compression, it just made the potential for feedback a bit too touchy. I do eat the mic, get great tone and have plenty of volume. Actually can walk in front of the tower with out feed back as long as compression is off. I have recently switched from using reverb to a bit (15-20) of digital delay. Myself and a few listeners, seem to like it better. Thanks for posting your setup. I may play with compression again. |

Joel,
I like a bit of compression on my vocals. The OM7 is a different sort of Mic and it reguires a lot of gain through the Mic Pre's. This also impacts the compressor settings a bit. If you are using the T1 it is very simple to use. Prior to my Bose system I have many years of experience with dbx compressors. What I like about the T1 is it should be simple for anybody to use. I selected medium as opposed to light. I am not sure what the ratio is but I did not notice any pumping or issues. The T1 has a nice graph bar that you can watch to see when the comp is kicking in. I generally run it so it only comes on during the loudest of vocals by just a bit. This tends to make things smoother and not so harsh for the listeners. Try it out and have some fun! |

Jimmy and Val,
Thanks for posting your set ups. It seems we our set ups have a lot in common. |
