Martingh,

I'm not familiar with the private side of the lake. Smile I play guitar and drums. I have a Taylor and a set of Roland V Drums. My church owns three PAS's. Would be cool to stop by some time - might be fun to play drums for the jam. Anyway, nice to you you're out there. Maybe we'll get together sometime.

John

I think this is a very important discussion here. For the most part, nothing sells the tune (or the artist) like the vocal.

Are you all using any presets with the Voicelive? What microphones?
Anyway, for everyone's education (including my own) please let us know more specifics (preset#, mic model, etc) about how you are using the system. Last, what is your opinion of the value of the Voicelive over simply using the system's mic pre direct? Is it mostly the reverb and delay processing?

Good discussion here

Cliff-at-Bose,

Wanted to briefly answer your questions on the VoiceLive...am using an Audix OM5 with the matching preset on the PAS. I go into the VoiceLive, into a BBE 482,then into #1 on the PAS. I centered all the tone controls on the remote, then tweaked the EQ just slightly on the VoiceLive
to what I thought was the best sound. Now I just need to tweak using the remote at the gig.
I'm a reverb junkie, and a one man band, so the
VoiceLive is a good addition, and an upgrade from the Digitech Vocal Performer I was using.
The VL is a little more complicated to use in performance, but the quality is worth it. I am using the VL in line, instead of an insert, to keep cabling to a minimum, and I have NO hum or noise problems...very quiet. I have yet to A-B the VL direct vs. as an insert, so I can't yet
speak of the quality difference, but will do so soon and report back. Hope this provides some more insight.

I thought I'd chime in on the voicelive conversation and offer up some more info to ST. I've been using the voicelive for about a year now as a solo acoustic act and doing the VL foot switch dance moving through keys and scales to sync the harmony to my lead vocal. With the VL, a Boss RC-20 and a Roland GR-20 at my feet it gets to be a real excercise in focus at times... at least until reciently. through another forum I found I could use the midi out of the Roland GR-20 to feed chord info to the midi in of the Voicelive and now the VL automatically tracks my changes by chord. What a good thing that is !! There's a new editor on the street too that gives you access to your VL from your PC for editing, here's a link to a forum for VL users.. http://www.voicelive.rocks.it/ lots of good stuff there. Hope that helps ! Duane

Hi deakes

Duane, this is a great tip. I've added it to the VoiceLive section in the Unofficial Users' Guide

Thanks!
