I've been singing with a live band in large venues. Will be singing in smaller venues (150 - 350) and looking for correct equipment. Would also like to operate from laptop or ITouch. I am open to your comments! Thanks

Hi lcdconsumer,

Thank you for joining the forum. You'll find it's pretty friendly here.

Please tell us more about your music:

  • What kind(s) of music you play?
  • Where you do it (type of venue)? You told us "smaller venues (150-350) but is there a type of place or event that is typical?
  • Who is there (audience) - how many, what are they doing while you are performing?

Thank you.

I am all about the Big Band Era. I have a You Tube site that gives you an idea of my music - www.youtube.com/lauriedsings. Numbers of people have been from 150 to 3,000 depending upon theatre presentation or small dinner club settings. I am wanting to do more of the old "speak-easy" settings in restaurants and night clubs and wanting to have the correct equipment to do so.

Hi again lcdconsumer,

Thank you for the info and especially for posting the link to your youtube site. I was happy to dwell there to watch and listen. I have a dear friend who performs this kind of music in small and larger venues with his L1® Classic. He has had it since before the L1® Model II was available. He added a T1® to his equipment list a year ago and has been very happy with that too. He sings in front of a band or orchestra and will also play with backing tracks when the situation calls for that.

Back to you
For crowds up to 350 I think you would be best served by an L1® Model II and for effects and control over you sound you will want a T1 ToneMatch® Audio Engine to go with that.

For smaller rooms you should be fine with the single B1 bass module (that comes with the L1® Model II) but for the larger spaces you will probably want a second B1.

For rooms larger than 350-500, I hope that there would be house system for sound reinforcement. In those locations you can use your L1® Model II for your stage monitor and run a line out from the T1® to the house system.

Your thoughts?

Absolutely super information! Thanks so much for the information. I think L1® Model II is the way to go. I will be using tracks and hope to utilize remote with a small laptop and ITouch IPod. I still need to catch up on this technology. There are simply so many hard-goods to consider going out on my own. Next, microphones! I'll be with the band each and everytime I have opportunity in the SF Bay Area. Otherwise, it will be the tracks. Again, thanks a bundle!

Hi ST:
Thanks for the information. I am indeed looking at Model II. I am thinking of using a laptop and ITouch to remotely control the concerts or venues while strolling. I'll check with Bose on those issues. A high quality microphone and I am ready to go! Your info has really been a great help - thanks again! L
