Greetings... Monsoon here, saying hello from Winchester VA. I'm a new user of the L1 system as of yesterday. Actually most of it came last week but the power base got lost somewhere in transit. Needless to say, Bose immediately sent another one that I recieved yesterday. I've got it hooked up and not only does it sound fabulous, but the monolith looks great in the corner of my studio. Here's my rig so far.....I've got a Roland GR 20 and Godin 3 voice guitar and a Helicon Voicelive hooked into an SKB power conditioned pedal board. The out from the pedalboard goes into the instrument in of a Boss RC20 XL looper which also has a WX5 wind controller going into the line in. The out from the looper goes to the line in on the T1 unit. The T1 also has an acoustic Alvarez and a Mike Kelly mandolin hooked in. But I'm thinking about getting the independant power source for the T1 and putting the SKB out into the T1 with the other instruments and having the T1 out go into the looper and the out from the looper into the analog input on the L1 power base. I'm thinking that the looper should be the last link in the signal chain. Any ideas or suggestions on this? I'm pursuing the New Age lounge lizard sort of venue...acoustic instruments with lots of strings and wind synth etc.

Is your L1 a Model II? The level on the Analog In on the Model II PowerStand is not controlled by the Master Volume on the T1. Your routing idea can produce sound but not with the convenience of control. Are you using all four channels on the T1? If not, you might try going into channels 1 through 3 then use the Aux Send to feed channels 1-3 into 4.

Yes, it's a Model II. I'm not using all 4 channels yet. So I would put the SKB out, the Alvarez and the mandolin in channels 1-3, take the aux send and put it into the looper then take the looper out and put it into Line in on the T1?

Yes. Just to be clear: Line In = Channel 4/5. This will give you complete control from the T1. FWIW, you will probably wish to set the Aux settings on CH 1-3 to Pre-Fade/Post FX. This way you can leave the faders down on CH 1-3 and not create an internal loop.

Thanks...I'll give that a try this evening.

Well I tried the aux setup and I experienced a change in the sound quality. Things seemed more distant and I lost some of the bottom end. I fiddled with the parameters, of course, and it's passable but I'm not sure I like it. I get the T1 power supply today so tonight I'm going to set the T1 up as just a mixer for the instruments and see what that does. The T1 will plug into the SKB board which then plugs into the same circuit as the L1. I have volume control on the last link in the chain anyway (the looper) so controlling master volume from the T1 isn't essential. At any rate...experimentation.

Hurray! Success!! It's awesome..it's pristine...and the warmth and bottom end are there. And not a sound..no hum, no hiss, nothing except the pure tones that issue from the instruments. I'm somewhat astounded at the clarity...never heard myself like this. The T1 seems to be a <heck> of a mixer. I'm not sure why I lost quality doing the channel/aux thing. But with the T1 on it's own as a mixer, and master out going into the looper then looper to L1, the sound is freakin' amazing. And what's really cool is that I live in an apartment building with walls as thin as paper. I spend most of my studio time under headphones so I won't disturb anyone. The normal studio monitors are too loud by time I can hear everything properly. With this L1, I don't have to turn it up barely at all and I can hear everything clear as a bell. Just what my music doctor ordered!!! [ken-at-bose substituted for an unallowed word -- please see our terms of service link at the bottom of every page]This message has been edited. I'm extremely pleased it is working so well! Please keep us updated as you experiment further. ...Mark
