USB Footswitch question

I asked this a few years ago with no results, but since technology changes daily...

I was wondering if anyone knows of a USB footswitch that I can use to page down (or up I suppose) on my Kindle/laptop/etc. ?

I really only need a page down function.

It would be nice not to have to put the entire song on one page (especially long songs).

Hi Tres:

Not sure about Kindle but with my Macs I use a Bilia Foot time. I have an older version so it does not work with IPad but is fine for laptop or desktop. The new version works with IPad
http://www.bilila.com/pagescore_turner
There are also bluetooth footswitches

http://airturn.com/

I use MusicReaderPro software with my IPad2 and usually get everything on one page when I set up my PDFs. Lyrics and Chords not dots.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks Brian, that's just what I was looking for. I'll have to research and make sure it works with a Kindle, but it's the kind of device I had in mind.

Excellent!

Well is my face red! Red Face

Turns out the Kindle has no usb or bluetooth connection or capability - so a footswitch is not an option... Frown

Well, it was a good idea...

Ain't technology great. Here's a pic of my rig with IPAD2 using ICLIP and an old mike stand/drink holder I hadn't been using. Works for me but there will be a plethora of new solutions in the coming months. Hope you find a solution that works for you.

Cheers!

I did the same thing -But mine mounts below the boom of my vocal mic. Same clip - iPad 1 refurb.
Using OnSong software for lyrics and chords.
Supports foot pedals too.

Great! Since I use wireless Headset and wireless guitar I can be flexible on the mount. Also can switch orientation to landscape in which I would definitely need a footswitch. Only time I would do this is if I was out doors and wearing polarized sunglasses. Can't read IPad2 with sunglasses on in portrait mode.

Cheers!

Hey guys, I just got an iPad gen 1 refurb and am looking for a mic stand mount for it. I'm looking at a couple of options and the iklip is one of them. Am I right in assuming that you cannot mount the iPad to the iKlip while in a protective case? I have mine in an OtterBox case, and I'm reluctant to have it unprotected in the mount.

Hi Scanman413

For my IPad2 I cannot use any kind of protective case but have no issues as it slides in nice and tight and the design makes it quite secure. The original IKiip for the IPad operates the same way I believe.

Cheers!

Yeah this is my first Apple product in a loooong time. I had an Apple IIC computer back in the 80's (showing my age here). And I gotta say, I'm loving my iPad. Apple has their stuff together. As for the mic stand adapter, I'm looking at another model -it's the Primacoustic Showpad- that looks interesting as well. And maybe even a bit sturdier.

I also use my laptop (and now the Kindle I hope) to remind me of words.

I've always had a talent/knack/gift/whatever for remembering music - I never use chord sheets or anything. But I have the reverse talent when it comes to lyrics; I just can't remember them all.

Actually, the ones I do most I remember for the most part; I basically use the prompter in case I have a brain fart-then back to singing.

Regarding my original posting (remember that? Big Grin ) I have discovered that my Kindle actually does have a mini USB port. Whether the footswitches suggested above will work...I still am researching.

More later for those interested!

Well,

I emailed one company listed above (Bilila) and they said it wouldn't work, to their knowledge. Their footswitch sends a keyboard page up/ page down signal via usb, and apparently the Kindle does not recognize any standard keyboard commands, at least not the page up/page down one... Frown

I was soooooo close!

I use the Billa switch with MS Word and it works great. I've used it on my laptop and on my Motion Tablet. Their laptop stand that they offer with it is not too sturdy.

Hi everyone,

Sorry but is there a USB footswitch that you can use with iTunes to use as a "stop and start" so the next song doesn't start straight away?

I use a Hp laptop running a regular version of windows

Has anyone found a way to do this????

Thanks alot from BEN : )

Nope, no footswitch

The easiest way I have found is to create a 10 minute track of silence. I use this track to separate out my songs on the playlist.

It's plenty of time to mess about between songs and then you just hit next track and bingo ur into it.

I just noticed this question: If you uncheck the check-mark box by each song in Itunes, the tune should stop on its own when it is finished playing. Then you can scroll to whatever you want for your next song and hit play.
