Aloha!!

Really want to purchase one, but need help with some questions!!

We have a 3 piece band that includes a guitar, ukulele and electric bass, along with 3 individual mics for vocals. (3 part harmony)

Since I'm new with sound systems and was wondering, how could this work if there is only 4 channels when we need 5-6 channels? Add a additional mixer? I got a powered mixer (Yamaha EMX512SC) and was also wondering if I could actually use this with the Bose system. I'm kind of thinking no, because it's powered. Non-Powered mixer for additional channels that patches into the Bose?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi easyukelele,

I am glad you joined us here.

Great questions.

I did a quick sketch so we could visualize your stage.

I am sorry - I didn't have a Ukelele for the center instrument, so please pretend with me that Mandolin is a Ukelele.

I was just guessing at the order from left to right - as viewed from the audience.

More coming.

Ideally you would have one L1® for each performer. When you do this, then there are usually enough inputs.

I have shown a unit with two B1 Bass Modules for the Bassist.

Having one L1® for each performer works very well for spacial separation and individual control. Each performer controls his/her own sound. The audience gets to see and hear each performer separately, playing together as an ensemble.

If you are not ready to get three L1®s you could start with two.

You would have enough inputs for this. Although you miss out on the benefits of having each performer's sound coming from a different location on stage.

I think this is the scenario you were asking about. And yes, you can make this work.

I checked the manual for your Yamaha EMX512SC.

I would probably connect at the Main Outputs on the front panel.

Here is a picture.

Without getting into all the details, because we need a little more information from you, yes, this should work with your mixer.

Please tell us more about your music:

  • What kind(s) of music you play?
  • Where you do it (size, type of venue)?
  • Who is there (audience) - how many, what are they doing while you are performing?
  • Do you have a web site?
  • If no web site, could you post a picture of your ensemble?

Also - what kinds of microphones are you using now?

Does the Acoustic Guitar have a pickup in it? What kind?

Does the Ukelele have a pickup in it? What kind?

This information will make it easier to discuss which of the above approaches might work best for you.

Thanks ST for the info!!

We play Hawaiian/Contemporary music here in Hawai'i....similar to folk/indie music.

We don't have any steady gigs yet, but looking at halls and bars with less than 200 people.

I got a instructional/information website on ukuleles at http://www.easyukulele.com and a you tube site with some of our practices and 1st gig on.

http://www.youtube.com/user/easyukulele

The guitar has a pickup, but don't know what kind and my ukulele has a Fishman Prefix Plus.

I'm still "wet behind the ears", so to say with systems.

With Great Appreciation,

Kainoa

easyukulele,

Welcome to the forum!

Over the last few years I have spoken to a fair amount of folks that are using the L1's on the island.

I was curious to know if your interest in the system was at all influenced by experiencing it as an audience member?
