Is it possible with a mixer?
If so what kind? how many channels?
I'm a part time solo musician and part time duo.
We have a variety of instruments . . . harp, hammered Dulcimer, flute, guitar, vocals.
I don't like to have to repatch/plug instruments in during the set as sometime as a duo, we switch instruments mid-song.

Hi CandyK,

Many people are using the T1 ToneMatch audio engine together with the L1 Compact. It offers up to five instruments and voices to be added (channels 4 and 5 are line level 1-3 you can plug in anything.)

Would that be enough channels for what you are doing?

If not, I can talk to about some other options.

With best regards,

Ken

Um, I think so . . . I have a peavy 8 channel and when I perform with one of my duos we use up to 7 channels.

Do I set levels on that thing proportionately?
Am I talking nonsense? I realize I could be as I'm not the best sound techie, although I know what sounds good.

My Peavey head has phantom power - would that work with my on mic that requires it thru the compact?

Yes, the T1 has four separate Trim+Channel Volume controls (as well as overall Master Volume). So each channel input can be 'customized' for the instrument or mic connected to it.

The fourth & fifth channel Ken mentioned has two inputs, so it can accepted input from two (line-level) instruments -- however, at least one of those instruments ought to have its own volume control so it can be balanced with the other one.

Yes, the T1 provides Phantom power if necessary.

Ideally, each of you would have your own T1. One could use the 1/4" connection into the Compact; the other would need a 1/4" to 1/8" or to RCA adapter ... and both T1's would need the separately-purchased external power supply.

You don't want to use the Compact's Channel 1 for a T1 -- that input is dedicated and customized (ToneMatch'ed) for a direct microphone connection. Channel 2, however, 3 to 5 separate inputs (one 1/4"; 2 RCA -- which could be stereo L & R; and one 1/8" stereo -- which could actually be two separate line-level inputs if one really wanted to do so!).
