Since a T1 isn`t in the budget just yet, the little TC vocal effects pedal looks like an affordable option...how would I hook it in to my L1 since it offers only XLR input/outputs?

You pretty much have to route things like this:

Microphone → VoiceCreate → Model I (or Classic) Power Stand

That should work okay. You may have to set the trim level down on the Power Stand input Channel. Just watch that you don't end up with the Signal/OL light solid red.
