I also need advice - how do you decide which guitar model best suits your guitar/pickup? I just got a Martin OMC Aura and love the plugged in sound, but am not sure which preset to use?
Bose should have an online TOOL w/ questions guiding the eventual recommended setting. That would be cool.

Alternatively, if Bose partnered w/ all major brands of guitars and mics, and had recommendations every time a new model came out, that would be great. A FAQ file would be good location for that... is there such a FAQ currently available? Others in an archive here?

I just use the regular Acoustic Guitar preset with my Aura - it's the last one called "Flat". You can always experiment with any of the presets available - regardless of whether they're for your instrument. Two of the same guitars with the same pickups may sound different, so there isn't really any science to having the right preset. I used to use the Limex accordion preset on different instruments with great results. A preset is really just a detailed EQ curve, so you can't go really wrong.

This is a great question.

From what I've read about the Aura system it seems that it is best suited to a relatively transparent system. Great news! If you set the L1® System to Preset 00 (or if you have a T1® - set the Preset to Bypass) that is what you get.

Then you can tweak the sound with the controls.

Getting beyond that, I would still take a run through all the Acoustic Guitar Presets in case something sounds better.

You want to do that at full gig volume, with your band if you have one, and singing too. The idea is to hear the guitar with the Preset in the same way as you will hear it when performing.

There is not a FAQ for this exactly, but now that you've brought this up - that's a great idea. I'll think about how we can add something like that to the wiki although we do have an article in there:

That was written with a Classic or Model I owner in mind. In one of your recent posts you mentioned that you do not have a T1®, so this article is for you.

I should have asked, like ST, if you are using a T1®. That's where the flat acoustic preset is.

The other thing I have to do with the Aura is to notch out around 130 Hz depending on which guitar I'm using to get rid of that pesky resonant frequency. I can't remember if the OMC has the notch filter on it.
