Mobile DJ here. I use a Telex Pro Wireless handheld microphone, and I have a Shure SM58 wired mic as a backup.

The preset for the Shure SM58 is great, but I'm having a tough time figuring out a setting for the Telex that will give natural sound and limit the feedback.

Any help in this area will be appreciated. Smile

Hi Media4u2,

I searched on the web for "Telex Pro Wireless" and while I was able to find several Telex wireless systems, I couldn't be sure which one you have. The following relatively generic advice is probably what I would have said anyway, but if you provide a link to *your* microphone system I'll look at it in case there is something unique or interesting about it.

Try:

Category: Vocal Mics
Preset: Handheld Mics

These two are specifically for situations where feedback is an issue.

Category: Vocal Mics
Preset: High Gain: Bright

Category: Vocal Mics
Preset: High Gain: Normal

Take whichever is closest to what you want and tweak with zEQ and Para EQ.

.:: OR ::.

Take a run through all the Vocal Mics presets and audition them.

Note: For best final results when choosing presets you want to audition them at full performance volume in a performance sized space.

ST,

Thanks for the info. I've tried those presets, but I haven't been able to tweak them satisfactorily.

My Telex is so old that it doesn't exist anywhere any more, I think. It's so old there wasn't even a model number on it. I looked at the unit today to see if I could find a model number or anything worthwhile on it. All it had was a serial number and the fact that it uses VHF 184.400 MHz. Nothing else.

When I bought it, the salesperson told me that it was the "Wireless version of the Shure SM58" by Telex. <shrug>

I wish I could tell you more about it.
