All,

I would like to ask that we use this area to capture comments or questions related to our ToneMatch partner Audix microphones.

I will be working with Audix to ask that they drop in time to time and keep us updated on current events and respond to any open questions that you may have.

Thank You,
Neil

I'm a new user with the OM-2 mic. I have no experience with mixing vocals. I have simply messed with all of the different settings, but could use some guidance on how to best configure the Tonematch system to my voice. I realize this is subjective, but since I don't really even know where to start any input is appreciated. I use a Breedlove Atlas AC model acoustic. Thanks

Hi Colter,

Start by "eating the mic" when you want to be your loudest.

Said another way, when you want to be your loudest, your lips should touch the windscreen of the microphone.

I do not believe we have a specific ToneMatch preset for the OM-2 yet. (Perhaps others here know better.)

I would start with the preset for the OM-5 and work from there.

Listen to your voice with the L1 system turned up to performance volume levels.

Use ZEQ on the T1 system to dial in any tweaks to your vocal sound.

What can you tell us about your musical life? It might help to fine tune advice a bit if you do.

With best regards,

Ken

I would like to see more Audix Tonematch presets.

I think one really important mic we're missing is the i5. Anywhere there is an sm57 preset we should have an i5 equivalent (percussion, guitar cabs...etc.).

Audix also has several great drum microphones.

I think Audix has an excellent product line. It would be great to have presets to showcase more of their mics.

Thanks Ken. I figured that out, seems to me that this mic is extremely sensitive to positioning...

denny_m,

We recently tested the Audix OM3 and OM7 mics and were fond of those as well.

I agree Audix has an excellent product line.

Thanks Neil

I'm using an Audix VX5 as a guitar mic, in a dual source config with a Schertler DYN. I bought it for this role at the recommendation of a pro fingerstyle performer in Acoustic Guitar Forum.

I'm using the VX5 preset with very large EQ cuts. I also tried using the roll-off and pad switches on the mic to reduce it's sensitivity to highs and lows in the aim of making it less prone to feedback. It seemed to have the intended effect but at the cost of some guitar presence -- so I've gone back to the off position. Feedback is actually a minimal issue with this mic, although it can always be induced (as with any condenser) when playing at higher volumes in loud settings.

Would love to see a preset for this mic in a dedicated acoustic guitar mic role. I'm taking max. cuts in some venues, which clearly is less than ideal as it leaves no room for further tweaking.

Hello Neil,
I just purchased an Audix OM7 Dynamic wireless (RAD 360) microphone, with a new L1 system II.
There is no update for Audix OM7, so I'm using settings for OM6, plus zEQ and reverb.

With a voice like Michael Buble, how do I set the ToneMatch? The OM7 sounds better than my OM3 mic', but it is so clear I am getting a lot of high tones. What to do, is there a quick fix?
