I play in a 6 piece band that utlizes 2 PS-1's, we're adding a third very soon. I use the POD XT Live and have found that the PS-1 output setting on the POD is the most pleasing to my ears. I set the output level on the POD to about 90%. I use channel 3 or 4 on the PS-1. I usually start with the gain at "6" and inch it up only if I have to. We usually run the master volumes on the sticks at 7 or 8. You also have to twiddle with the "amp channel" volumes on the POD as well to get the right amount of saturation and gain.
This is for electric guitars. I have not been able to get a good tone on the acoustic (Taylor 514) through the POD. We usully start our gigs off with an acoustic set, so I go direct into Ch.1 on the PS-1 and use a Taylor preset EQ that sounds very good and, best of all, no feedback! We get a ton of comments about our system (as well as a lot of stange looks from folks when we set up), with the the majority of people saying "We could hear everything very clearly and still carry on a conversation at our table without having to yell!" We're very pleased with this system. - Ken, June 27, 2005 - full thread here |
